JOB SUMMARY

Engages in promoting or creating good will for the local community and LLU campus by writing or selecting favorable publicity material and releasing it through various communications media. Creates promotional materials and updates the office website. May prepare and arrange displays, and make speeches. Performs other duties as needed.

1. Creates promotional materials (written and visual) for events and volunteer recruitment

2. Creates and implements a communication plan for promoting events through CAPS and in the local community, both on and off campus.

3. Updates the CAPS website regularly.

4. Attends various community events and writes “success stories” for publication online and in newspapers.

5. Discovers new events and ways for students to get involved locally.

6. Creates a network of CAPS representatives, who will support in promotion of events.

1. Represents CAPS in school and community presentations, as needed.

2. Supports CAPS Special Projects and large events, as needed.

1. Knowledge and Skills: Essential Technical/Motor Skills: a. Ability to operate a computer, b. Ability to process and sort mail, c. Ability to communicate fluently in English. d. Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred. e. Website design skills preferred. Essential Interpersonal Skills: Works well with others, is cooperative, takes initiative, participates well in a team environment, good communication skills, ability to take direction, asks questions when doesn’t understand what needs to be done. Essential Mental Abilities: Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and able to work under minimum supervision. Essential Sensory Abilities: Ability to see and hear to communicate with others and to operate office equipment.

2. Education and Experience: Currently enrolled as a Loma Linda University student. Must be eligible for Federal Work Study program. Minimum one year of office and public relations experience preferred. Minimum one year of graphic art experience preferred.
