Minutes of the last meeting and matters arising
Madeleine had attended the last meeting.
Speaking Space Visit:
Tanya and Emma went to Speaking Space last month. They had lunch there. The good news is that when Tanya and Emma gather the view of people, they are welcome to go there again.
Flo printed off the report and it was sent around the room. It has also been emailed to the group.
The next visit is Spiral Blue day service in Ringwood.
Page 1 of 4 We talked about DBS checks (they used to be called CRB – Criminal Records Bureau checks and are now Disclosure and Barring Service checks). Minstead Training Trust and SFHT run enhanced police checks on their staff but it is not compulsory for day services. People felt that day services purchased by Hants LA should check their staff. Dawn said that within the quality framework, it should be done.
We talked about the service reviews that Emma and Tanya have been doing. It would be good if they could review all the services and write a report. Ophelia will take it back to the LIG reps group and perhaps LIG reps can be more involved in service reviews. group.
Presentation on benefits – Mandy Harris (SFHT)
Mandy Harris from SFHT gave a very helpful presentation on Benefits which is uploaded on to the website under yellow LIG minutes. She talked about the forms that people are having to complete about Capacity to Work. It is very important that people have support to do these because they could have benefits stopped if the forms are filled in a way that says they are able to work without support. Mary Bold from the Disability Information service was at the meeting and she was able to give some good advice

Music Festival in the New Forest
There won’t be any FestAble next year but SFHT and Minstead Training Trust are organising a Music Festival at Foxlease in Lyndhurst on 24th to 26th April 2015 – some of the accommodation is wheelchair accessible There is a range of accommodation as well as lots of campsites, some with shelter. We will be advertising the event nationally and hope to have a lot of people there. We are looking for a person to lead the project – SFHT and Minstead are issuing a job description for a project worker which will be on their websites. The project worker will also need to work on sponsorship to find more money to pay for the Festival so that we can keep the ticket price affordable for people. LD grant was £3500.
Sarah Chatley said to invite Daniel O’Donnell. (irish folk). Jude Shaw knows someone at EMY – press officer so she will contact
We will be forming a Music Festival Committee.
Hate crime seminar – Jan Mills
Page 3 of 4 Jan went to Solent Uni “hate crime seminar” which was very interesting. People are discouraged from reporting and there is a massive difference in sentencing depending on the words used. CPS is now taking very seriously hate crime against people with a learning disability with help of point of intermediary, communication aids, public excluded, screens, videos, links, etc
