PHILLIPS PREPARATORY SCHOOL ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT

Dear Parents,

Congratulations on your child being selected to participate in the athletic program at our school. We look forward to a positive and rewarding experience for you and your child. Attached to this letter is a copy of athletic rules. Please read and sign this letter.

It is the goal of this department to field a team that is conditioned physically and mentally. To prepare the student athlete to compete at the next level, we stress teaching the basic fundamentals of sports, believing that this is the foundation of future success. Winning is never the only objective; however we compete to win each game.

Parents are not allowed to coach sports in our program. The coaches must meet state requirements and therefore cannot be volunteers.

Athletes who participate in sports in the Mobile County Public School system follow the rules set forth by the AHSAA (Alabama High School Athletic Association). There is no certain amount of time a child must play. It is strictly up to the coaches who plays and for how long. The coaches set the criteria for tryouts and who makes the team. Any parent that does not agree with these rules should not allow his/her child to participate in athletics at Phillips. If a problem arises, please schedule a conference with your coach; however, not immediately following a game.

Practice time is vital to the success of any program and we require all athletes and trainers to attend all scheduled practices and games. Parents are expected to pick students up on time after each game and practice.

Once again, welcome to the athletic family. We look forward to a successful experience in our athletic program.
