The Abc of Animals in London

THE ABC OF ANIMALS IN LONDON One of our parents, Cristina Guidone-Charles (mum of Eva in Y3) has written, illustrated and published a new book. Cristina came in to school to talk to the children in assembly about her book and to show it to them. It is a paperback, a beautifully illustrated journey from A-Z of weird and wonderful animal tales all related to London through the past 800 years. The book contains historic, scientific and bizarre facts and stories. It is a treasure trove of trivia about roof dwelling flamingoes, fashion conscious bees, ostriches with a taste for heavy metal etc It is ideal for primary school children, with intriguing facts written for older children, plus vibrant, modern illustrations to hold the interest of younger children, and stories for them to grow into. The book retails for £8, and is available online from Amazon and Waterstones, as well as direct from the publisher at www.aroominmyhouse.com However, Cristina has very kindly agreed to donate £1 from the sale of each book (sold at school) to the PTA funds which will of course, be used towards something for the children in school. The book itself has had such a positive response, and sales have got off to a very good start. Here are a couple of Amazon reviews and reviews from children's product bloggers that show the age appeal of the book: "My girls (3 & 5) were instantly captivated by the gorgeous pictures... each letter has an interesting story about London which makes it educational as well as fun... great to read as an adult too" "ABC of Animals in London... the book is awesome!"

"This book is stunning... the illustrations are beautiful and the concept is really clever... so much more interesting than a normal ABC book"

"I am an animal lover and of historical London and this book covered both these interests in an interesting amusing way"

"This book may be for children, but it is not at all childish!" If you would like a signed copy of the book, please fill in the slip below and return to the school office with £8. (£1 will be donated to the PTA) Yours Sincerely
