 Expert practitioner in subject area with some whole school responsibilities determined through application / interview.

 Must be a consistently Good or Outstanding teacher.

 To inspire and lead staff in the Humanities department and ensure students achieve their very best by establishing a culture that celebrates and promotes academic and wider achievement. This will include establishing a positive identity and ethos for their department.

 Accountable for ensuring that all students in the Humanities department make good or outstanding progress and achieve challenging targets.

 Accountable for student achievement, attendance, quality of teaching and learning and curriculum development within the Humanities department (must be able to demonstrate track record of improving achievement, attendance, quality of teaching and learning and meeting the needs of students).

 Establish and maintain clear improvement plans, milestones, targets and expectations in relation to standards, quality and achievement

 Through academy performance management processes ensure all teaching across the department is Good or Outstanding.

 Provide strategic leadership for curriculum design within the Humanities department, its development and delivery that meets the needs of individual students and maximises the opportunity for each individual to achieve excellent outcomes/results.

 Use data from stakeholder consultation in order to critically evaluate learning and teaching. Establish strong home - academy links.

 Contribute fully to the overall leadership / strategic direction of the academy at a senior leadership level.

 Contribute to whole school curriculum.

 Accountable for health and safety within the Humanities department and academy, including risk assessments and accident reporting. Ensure that the department’s area is managed in such a way as to comply with health and safety requirements. Ensure prompt reporting of any

 Support the academy’s Business and Enterprise specialism.

 Manage the department budget and be accountable for achieving and demonstrating value for money is achieved in delivering the objectives of the Humanities department.
