Updates Credit Unions can choose to support IIA through three separate contracts that will come with income sharing opportunities based on marketing commitments. o Membership enhancement programs will fall into three Tiers: . Big Ticket Items financed by CUs (autos, RVs, Boats, homes, etc) – 80% of Advertising Pool . Sprint – wireless discount program already in place – 20% of marketing revenue . Concern over GM and Chrysler 0% financing through GMAC Given the recent $3.8 Billion government loan provided to GMAC there are several key points which all credit unions need to understand about this issue: o GM owns less than 10% of GMAC o GMAC is now a bank and has access to TARP funds o 0% is usually restricted to select close out and discontinued brands o On a cost basis, 0% is balanced by equal amounts of consumer rebates which cannot be combined with rate support incentives It is important to note that when you combine the GM credit union member discount and eligible consumer rebates with low credit union rates, the payment in most cases comes out better than what 0% for 72 months alone provides.
