Please note that the text starts on the same line as the subheading.

INTRODUCTION: All main headings shall be in capital letters of the size and fonts shown in the heading here, i.e. 12 pt. Time Roman Bold. Do not number individual headings. Introduction must not exceed one-half page. Please note that the text starts on the same line as the subheading in all cases.

PROCEDURES, RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: All three should be included in one section. Please use 8 1/2" (216 mm) x 11" (279 mm) paper, or the nearest European equivalent. In the case of nearest European equivalent, the text typing space must remain the same, i.e. 6.0 inch (152 mm) x 8.5 inch (216 mm), provide equal margins on left and right and 1.25 in. (32-mm) margin at the top. This will leave more margin at the bottom. The paper shall be of good quality bond. The compact paper must be three pages only. Any paper that exceeds the page limitation or does not follow these typing instructions will not be included in the proceedings. Also, any paper in improper English will not be included in the proceedings. The entire paper should be typed single-spaced. Double space between the title and author, double-space between the author and affiliation and double space between the last line of the address and the "Abstract" line. The text must be left and right justified. If sub-titles appear, please set up as: Numerical Procedure: Please note that the first letter of each word is to be capitalized; use same fonts as shown above for the sub-title.

At least two full pages must be devoted to new (unpublished) results. All published procedures and results would be simply referenced, e.g. new results were obtained using published procedures (see Taylor [1938]), or based on published results (see Bridgman [1949a]). Please note here how the references are to be referred in the text.

Double-space between paragraphs. When referring to the word "equation" in the text, abbreviate to Eqn. All equation numbers should be put in ( ) in the text and numbered consecutively throughout the typescript, i.e. 1, 2, 3 etc., and not I.1, II.2, or 1.1, 2.1. Equations shall also be indented five spaces.

FIGURES: A maximum of four figures or (photographs) shall be mounted in the text and not after references. All figures must not occupy more than one page. Figures must not extend in the margin space and all lettering and numbers within the figures must be readable at 100% view. Color figures are encouraged. When referring to the word "Figure", in the text, please abbreviate to Fig. The caption should be provided below each Figure. Please provide two spaces at the top and bottom between figures and the text.

TABLES: Tables shall appear after two blank lines from the text and a caption should be given at the top of each table, e.g. see Table 1.

Table 1: Material Constants

Please notice that the word "Table" and each word in the line above start with a capital letter.

CONCLUSIONS: The conclusion section must not exceed six lines.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS: This section must not exceed four lines.

REFERENCES: A maximum of six References must be cited in the text by the last name of authors followed by the year of publication within square brackets, e.g. "as Bridgman [1949] noted..."; or "shown in previous studies (Taylor [1938a, 1938b]; Jones et al. [1961];)." For multiple citations, cite the oldest first. At the end of the manuscript, all references must be typed in alphabetical order by authors last name. First reference should appear on the next line after the subheading, ie. no reference on the line containing the subheading. This is an exception to the earlier rule where the text started on the same line as the subheading. Use lowercase letter suffixes to the year (e.g., Bridgman [1949a, 1949b]) for multiple works by the same author within a single year. You must include article, paper, and chapter titles. Abbreviate journal titles in the style of the 4th edition of the World List of Scientific Periodicals. Journal volume numbers should be typed in bold. List journal article opening page numbers only right after the volume number; list inclusive pages for articles within books, proceeding or reports. Indent the second line by two spaces. For example: Bridgman, P.W. 1949a, The Physics of High Pressure, G. Bell & Sons, London. Bridgman, P.W. 1949b, "Linear compressions", Proc. Am. Acad. Arts Sci., 77, 189. Full length manuscripts Full length papers (15-50 pages), based on the presentation at this symposium, is to be submitted (optional) to the International Journal of Plasticity and should be typed using the same instructions except the paper should be double-spaced in 11 pt., section titles should be centered in the page and numbered . Obviously, the space limitations for each section, maximum number of figures and references do not apply in the case of a full-length paper. Further, the figures and tables should include captions. For further typing instructions see any issue of The International Journal of Plasticity, or visit the website (http://www.elsevier.com/locate/ijplas/).
