1. Exact description of request: Summary: To better align MPA program requirements with graduate school policy and other graduate program policies.

1 From: Degree Requirements (2010-2012 Graduate Catalog) 3. No more than two accounting courses with a grade below B.

To Degree Requirements 3. Students are required to earn a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 in ACCOUNT courses.

2. Relationship to mission and strategic plan of institution, and/or college and department goals and objectives:

3. Rationale: This change from the current policy (no more that 2 ACCOUNT classes with a grade below a B can be counted towards graduation) " to the proposed policy (students are required to earn a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 in ACCOUNT courses). The first portion of that statement already exists in graduate policy. The second half of the statement more accurately correlates with the graduate school policy which requires a minimum GPA in the students emphasis. This change would only impact a very small percentage of students. On very rare occasion students do earn above a 3.0 but have 3 C's in ACCOUNT classes. This is because they have done exceptionally well in their other ACCOUNT classes. It would prevent a student who earned all B's and 1 C in ACCOUNT classes from graduating. With better alignment with graduate school policies, there will be less confusion on the part of students.

4. Cost Implications: None
