OCTOBER 2017 NEWSLETTER Dear Parents and Students,

Fall Greetings! October is dedicated to the most Holy Rosary. It is time in which we honor the Blessed Mother in gratitude for the protection she gives the church in answer to praying the Rosary. October is also Respect for Life Month.

 Nativity News

 MAP Testing will continue to take place during the week of October 2 n d . Students in grades Kindergarten through Grade 2 will be tested this week. Students will complete a test in Reading, Math and Language.  Progress Reports will be distributed on Wednesday, October 11 t h to the students in K- Grade 8. Please review your child’s Progress Report, sign it and return it to your child’s teacher on Friday, October 13 t h . If you would like to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss your child’s Progress Report, contact the teacher directly by writing him or her a note, or by calling the school office (718-324-2188) so that an appointment can be arranged between you and the teacher.  Deficiency Reports will be sent home on Friday, October 27 t h for grades 1 through 8.  Our Prestige Gift Catalog Sale begins on Monday, October 2 n d . If you haven’t done so, please consider purchasing items from the catalog, as all the money raised from this voluntary fundraiser will be used to help our school. Just a reminder…the order sheet and money collected are due in the office by October 18 t h . Thanks for your support!

 The last day to wear the summer uniform is Friday, October 13 t h . All children should begin to wear their regular school uniform on Monday, October 17 t h . Contact Liebman’s (914-632-2770), our uniform supplier, for any uniform needs.

 If you would like your child to be baptized as Roman Catholic, please contact me so that we can discuss the process for being baptized.  If you are interested in your child receiving the Sacrament of Communion or Confirmation this year, please contact the main office as soon as possible.

 There will be an Optional “Dress-Down” Day on Wednesday, October 25 t h . On this day a child may “dress-down” as long as he/she remits $2.00 for this special privilege. Students whose parents do not want them to participate should dress in their regular school uniform

 Nativity of Our Blessed Lady will once again host our annual “Trunk or Treat ” on Tuesday, October 31 s t in the upper yard. More information will be sent home about this fun event in the coming days. All parents are invited to attend.

 Nativity will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair during the week of October 16 t h . Parent volunteers are needed to assist in running this great event. If you are able to donate some time, please let me know.  Just a reminder to please go online and complete the survey on after school activities and events. Calendar Reminders !!!

 October 9th---Columbus Day (SCHOOL CLOSED)  October 18th --- Teacher Conference Day – (School Closed) – UPK program will be open for a full day of school.
