2007 September: Published an important article on “Unknown Health Risks of Inhalation Insulin” By T. R. Shantha, MD, PhD, FACA, Life Extension, September 2007 issue in USA (pp 78-83). This latest publication warns of the dangers of sing this expensive insulin resulting more cancers, polyps, exaggerated asthmatic attack and COPD, vocal cord nodules, oro-aero-upper digestive tack cancers, infections and other conditions. The carcinogenic and other ill effects may not show until decades of its use as we saw in Vioox, Avandia and other drugs use resulting early death. This research article may save thousands of lives by preventing the development of cancer. Pfizer company withdrew Exubera (inhalation insulin) from the market after publication of this article; taking a loss of 2.5 billion dollars. Many drug companies are considering this article as a warning regarding the development of Carcinogenic inhaled insulin.

Since the introduction of Modern electric bulb by Thomas Edison bulb in 1879, there is no change in the incandescent (glowing, luminescent) bulb basics. This is the first time changes are made in this classic Edisonian incandescent bulb. We have come with this simple concept after 128 years of its introduction to extend the life by double, and at the same time environmentally friendly by conserving the bulb which are easily thrown out when it burns out. Our bulb has two filaments; when one filament burns out; the other filament is turned on by a simple method instead of throwing it out as useless. Our bulb conserves 80 of the energy and material used to produce the Edison bulb every time we throw a burnt out bulb. We can also double the amount of lumens of lighting (brightness) given by lighting both the filaments.

This method may cure, and/or prolong the life, and make them pain free. Case report in one case with intractable peritoneal infection by Candida showed us this method does work. 2. Setting up a project at Karnataka state leprosarium and tuberculosis institutes at Davanagere to study the effects of hyperthermia combined with antimicrobial agents and insulin potentiation therapy and hyperbaric therapy. 3. Rabies is incurable. Seeking centers to study the effects of continuous hyperthermia combined with autoimmune therapy, Ketamine, Sulfasalazine, DMSO, and B Vitamin infusion, sedative, Inducing continues hypoglycemia up to 40-50 mg% etc.. It is believed that we can save at least 50% of these patients. 4. Setting up a ophthalmic research center with 300 bed hospital 5. Subdural intra-arachnoid injection of steroids for acute and chronic post herpetic neuralgic pain, chronic backache, and implantation of electrodes in this space is being studied. 6. Planning a project to study the effects of growth hormones and anabolic steroids in debilitated bedridden intensive care patients, diabetics and post operative patients, type ll diabetics, and anabolic steroid use in advanced stage four cancers except in prostate cancers. 7. Studying the method of relieving pain by using continuous epidural after lumbar laminectomy and other back surgery and for back pain patients with inversion bar stretching with epidural steroid injections. This alleviates suffering in hundreds of patients who undergo back surgery. These patients can go home early and resume function. 8. Study the effect of botulism toxins and magnesium sulfate in relieving the chronic myofascial pains. 9. Intravenous regional anesthesia using hypoglycemia method to relive pain and RSD. 10. Treatment of psoriasis, eczema and many other skin diseases of the extremities by using multiple hyperthermias with low dose therapeutic agents and Insulin potentiation therapy (IPT) along with autoimmune therapy are being explored. 11. Treatment of Interstitial cystitis using hyperthermia is being explored. At present there is no curative therapy. 12. Treatment of resistant Tuberculosis of the lungs and other infections of the lungs, and other regions using hyperthermia, Hyperbaric therapy, IPT, antibiotic and chemotherapeutic agents. 13. Development of devices to stimulate the hypothalamus and other parts of the nervous system through nerve tracks to relieve chronic pain, Alzheimer disease, addictions, mental problems and various other central nervous system diseases. The patent is applied for the device and received and more patents are going to be applied. 14. Setting up cancer clinics using Insulin Potentiation Therapy, low and high dose anticancer agents, Hyperthermia, Hyperbaric method etc. Establish also cancer prophylaxis clinics and centers to treat various neurological (Alzheimer’s, autism, stroke, senile dementia and other diseases using hyperbaric therapy.

RESEARCH PROJECTS UNDER STUDY AND DEVELOPMENT:

1. Treat MRSA using insulin potentiation therapy with appropriate Antibiotics, Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) (usually pronounced in short as "Mursa" or spelled out as MRSA), is a bacterium responsible for difficult-to-treat infections in humans. It may also be referred to as multiply- resistant Staphylococcus aureus or oxacillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (ORSA). MRSA was discovered in 1961 in the UK. It is now found worldwide often referred to in the press as a super bug. MRSA is. It has evolved an ability to survive treatment with beta-lactam antibiotics, including penicillin, methicillin, and cephalosporins.[2] MRSA is especially troublesome in hospital-acquired (nosocomial) infections. In hospitals, patients with open wounds, invasive devices, and weakened

Bio Data (CV) of Dr. T. R. Shantha 29 Sunday, October 12, 2008 Page 29 of 37 immune systems are at greater risk and staff who do not follow proper sanitary procedures may inadvertently transfer bacterial colonies from patient to patient. 2. Developing a project to treat Human Papilloma Virus infection, which afflicts 30 million people in U.S.A alone? Has a patent for treating this condition. 3. Rabies is incurable. Seeking centers to study the effects of continuous hyperthermia combined with autoimmune therapy. It is believed that we can save at least 50% of these patients. 4. Treatment modalities of urine by using antiviral agents and urine antigens with gastric tube. 5. Treatment of Tuberculosis using hyperthermia and hyperbaric therapy and radiofrequency waves with nano anti tuberculosis agents. 6. Planning a project to study the effects of growth hormones and anabolic steroids in debilitated bedridden intensive care patients and post operative patients, and anabolic steroid use in advanced stage four cancers. 7. Treatment psoriasis, Lupus, Autoimmune diseases, eczema and many other systemic as well regional diseases of the by using multiple hyperthermia, hyperbaric therapy with low dose therapeutic agents and Insulin potentiation therapy along with autoimmune therapy are being explored. 8. Treatment of Interstitial cystitis using hyperthermia and Botox injection is being explored. At present there is no curative therapy. 9. To start projects to treat AIDS, ovarian cancer, PID, Endometriosis, Antibiotic resistant infections, pancreatic cancer, Colon cancer, prostate cancer with secondary deposits in the pelvic lymph node, Treatment of resistant Tuberculosis, AIDS, incurable diseases and infections, cancers, using hyperthermia, Hyperbaric therapy, IPT, antibiotic and chemotherapeutic agents as well use of continuous auto urine therapy through gastrostomy tube. 10. Development of devices to stimulate the hypothalamus and other parts of the nervous system through nerve tracks to relieve chronic pain, Alzheimer disease, addictions, mental problems and various other central nervous system diseases. The patent is received for the device and received and more patents are going to be applied.

R. Shantha will save thousands from developing lung and oro-naso-pharyngeal tumors, cancer, asthma and other lung diseases. Probably culminated in withdrawal of inhalation insulin named Exubera form the market by Pfizer recently] 1. Latest: An important research article published on “Unknown Health Risks of Inhalation Insulin” By T. R. Shantha, MD, PhD, FACA, Life Extension, September 2007 issue in USA. This publication played a role in Pfizer withdrawing it Inhalation Insulin named Exubera, from the market in October 2007. Pfizer Pharmaceutical Company took a loss of 2.5 billion dollars. But, this action saved thousands of people developing cancers of respiratory, and oro – naso - pharyngeal system by its prolonged use with increase in Asthma etc; and future litigations amounting to billions by users. Received a letter from Glaxo Smith Kline Company supporting Dr. T. R. Shantha’s article. The drug companies will revise all inhalation insulin research in the light my recent research article. The copy of the letter from Glaxo is attached. I have sent my research article FDA offices and many drug companies which are trying to develop this dangerous mode of administration of Insulin. 2. [ For his research discoveries extending over the period of 47 years in USA alone; he was awarded Distinguished Physician Award from AAPI which represents 42000 physician and Scientists in USA at their 23 Annual meeting at Houston Texas on June 19th of , 2005 and Professional Achievement Award from Veerashaiva Samaj Of North America (VSNA) which represents thousands of scientists, computer experts, physicians etc, which in turn represents more than 35 million Veerashaiva followers in India at their annual meeting held in Maryland on July 3rd of 2005. Dr. T. R. Shantha was nominated for Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine for the year 2007. Dr. T. R. Shantha’s latest research article published in September 2007on dangers of Inhalation Insulin in development of lung cancer and other catastrophic health conditions after prolonged use might have resulted (one of the reason) in withdrawal of inhalation Exubera by Pfizer with a loss of billions. This decision will save thousands of lives from morbidity and mortality. Many pharmaceutical companies which were in processes of developing this method of delivery of insulin are looking in to its long term effects and may stop further exploration and marketing due to Dr. T. R. Shantha’s research findings on this method of drug delivery]

Dr. T.R. Shantha has contributed immensely to basic medical science and finding therapies for many incurable health conditions. Dr. Shantha and Accidental Live Rabies Virus interjection during his research in collaboration with CDC of Atlanta: Important research event which almost cost his life. During his research work in collaboration with CDC of Atlanta, rabies center research division, he almost died of a rabies infection. The incidence of this deadly virus injection is as follows: Dr. Shantha was working in collaboration with the CDC in Atlanta, on the mechanisms of the rabies virus transfer to the central nervous system in the mid nineteen sixties. He went to the New Mexico Rabies Lab to conduct the experiments initiated by the CDC of Atlanta. While injecting the rabies virus under the microscope into the tiny nerves of the mice legs, he accidentally injected his left hand finger with the live rabies. He was immediately flown to Atlanta, inoculated with a duck anti-rabies vaccine at CDC. He survived the accidental injection of rabies virus infection. Out of this work, Dr. George Bear from CDC and Dr. Shantha published two research papers in the WHO Medical Journal which showed how fast the rabies virus is transmitted to the central nervous system and the role of nerve membranes on rabies virus transmission to the CNS. Due to duck anti-rabies vaccine he received, he developed severe autoimmune type allergic skin reaction. Even today he suffers from severe psoriatic type of allergic reaction on the skin. Perhaps, he is the only scientist on the record who survived the live fixed rabies virus injection in the annals of recent rabies research.

Selected Research contributions by Dr. Shantha along with Dr. G. H. Bourne from Emory University School Medicine Georgia Baptist Medical Center:

1. Dr. Shantha described pia- arachnoid mater of CNS extending as choroid of the eye through the fenestrated lamina cribrosa of the Optic Nerve. Dr. Shantha described the pia-arachnoid membrane of the Central Nervous System extending all the way to peripheral nerve endings

He was the first scientist from Emory to show that the onion ring like coverings of the Pacinian corpuscle is nothing but the extension of Pia-Arachnoid Mater of the central nervous system which is nothing but the Perineural epithelium. He along with Dr. G.H. Bourne demonstrated the origin of cells on the motor end plate and called it Peri -synaptic cells of the motor end plate. They are very important for proper functioning of the motor end plate and are derived from the perineural epithelium, so also are the cells of the capsule of the muscle spindles. The results of the report were published in Nature, Science, NEJM, J Anatomy (Lond), Anesthesiology, BJ of Anesthesia, J of Urology and other distinguished peer reviewed research journals all over the world. 2. Dr. Shantha showed the presence of Pacinian corpuscles on the Olfactory bulb which sub serve pressure sensation within the cranium and send messages of pressure in the brain. 3. Dr. Shantha showed that many layers of this epithelium surrounded the sympathetic chain of sperm whales. 4. Dr. Shantha demonstrated the presence of Arachnoid Villi in the optic nerve of man and other primates. Before this discovery, no one knew they existed in the optic nerve, where they serve a very important physiological function to maintain the normal function of the eye. He published 11 research papers on the eye alone. 5. Dr. Shantha and his colleagues showed the presence of intercellular pores in the corneal endothelium, which transmit nutrients to the vascular cornea. 6. Dr. Shantha demonstrated a double central canal in the spinal cord of normally functioning rats. 7. Dr. Shantha showed the presence of nerve ganglion cells far away from the spinal cord in the peroneal nerve of the feet. 8. Dr. Shantha published 12 papers on the Golgi complex of the entire CNS and eye. 9. Dr. Shantha developed a subarachnoid blood patch (not epidural blood patch) to stop CSF leakage and prevented seven surgeries on seven patients to exposed dura and patched the dura to prevent the CSF leak. This was published in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine. 10. Dr. Shantha found Pacinian corpuscle in the Dorsal and ventral root of the spinal cord. This fact is often quoted in text books. 11. Dr. Shantha showed the presence of Arachnoid Villi in the dorsal and ventral spinal roots and their role in Epidural anesthesia. It is a 14 page paper and was published in the very distinguished journal Anesthesiology. This work is referenced in many text books. 12. Dr. Shantha developed a new method to block the occipital nerve for neuropathic pain and tension occipital headaches. 13. Dr. Shantha showed the presence of the Virchow –Robin space in peripheral nerves as seen in the CNS which plays an important role in the spread of local anesthetics in peripheral nerves. 14. Dr. Shantha showed the mechanisms of the action of LSD in the central nervous system. 15. Dr. Shantha wrote monographs on neurons (almost 300 pages), and chimpanzee brains (240 pages). 16. Dr. Shantha found a new simple drug for the treatment of PRIAPISM (painful persistent penile erection), which was published in the Journal of Urology and quoted in ER hand books and urology text books. Now this drug is used all over the world in Emergency Rooms for the above condition saving thousands of dollars in medical cost and preventing painful surgery to relieve the condition. He could have patented his discovery and made millions, which he did not. 17. Dr. Shantha developed and perfected a sub-cricoid retrograde method of intubations for difficult intubations which was published in the British Journal of Anesthesia. 18. Dr. Shantha developed three patents and is exploring their applications in Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, pain management, and various psychological illnesses. Now he has registered in

Shantha 36 Sunday, October 12, 2008 Page 36 of 37 Patent and trade mark office 7 applications on environmentally safe Energy efficient Electric bulbs and devices to prevent sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) which can save thousands of children lives all over the world. 19. Dr. Shantha published four books on the Brain from Yerkes Primate Research Center of Emory University, a book on the breast and another one on AIDS. He is an expert on Urine therapy and is preparing a monograph. 20. Dr. Shantha was the first person to induce peritoneal hyperthermia in Georgia Baptist Hospital (now Atlanta Medical Center) for the treatment of massive terminal Candida infection of the peritoneal cavity and Septicemia. This can be used also to treat peritoneal cancer mets from the ovary, colon, and other cancers. The patient walked out and is still alive. He presented this paper during the International Hyperthermia Congress two years ago. 21. Four patients, who were previously bed ridden, have returned to work due to his method of treatment of Scleroderma. He presented these cases in a research meeting in Florida in the year 2005. 22. Dr. Shantha’s treatment using glucose facilitated therapy and others resulted in complete remission of lupus. 23. Many chronic Lyme disease patients who were disabled have gone back to work due to Dr. Shantha’s method of treatment. 24. Dr. Shantha’s research on new therapies in the treatment of cancers and other incurable diseases will continue. A local and systemic injection of cancer with anti-cancer agents, glucose and insulin, has opened a new method of treatment for cancers. The results have been very encouraging. (Glucose facilitated chemotherapy) 25. He is developing simple methods to prevent the death of children in cribs called SUDDEN INFANT DEATH SYNDROME (SIDS). He is applying for 3 patents (besides 3 patents he already has) on the subject, and when completed it will save the life of hundreds unfortunate babies who otherwise would die from SIDS. 26. He is the developer of Sleeping Left Side Down method to maintain good health, to prevent chronic diseases, reduce going to the doctors for illnesses, and to live longer. He published numerous reports on this subject and was well accepted and rewarded for those who practice this method. When time allows, he will publish a book. 27. Dr. Shantha has developed a method to prevent Hair Loss during chemotherapy. Early results have been very encouraging. He is applying for the patent and makes it available so that every child, woman and man who undergoes chemotherapy can use it without the fear loosing all the hairs. 28. Has conceived a new method to treat Cataract and various eye disease using local eye drops which I am applying for a patent. 29. Has developed treatment protocol for full blown rabies, which 100% fatal which is going to tried in south-east Asia.

Besides all other charitable works and contributions (including Morehouse Medical College Grady Memorial Hospital, Medical College of Georgia) Volunteering at Hands of Hope charity clinic in Henry county, GA which provides free medical care to hundreds of sick people who have no insurance and nor where to Gospels till 2005. Dr. Shantha also provided major funding and built a Girls High School in India (Hosadurga, Chitaldrug District) named after his father and mother, where 300 girls go to this wonderful high school since 1988 surrounded by clean environment and excellent teaching facilities. An estimated 2000 girls have graduated from this high school so far. He along with his other anesthesiologists in the group made large charity contribution through Medical Center Anesthesia Associated (MCAA) to build the Massive Hospital Tower Extension expansion of Georgia Baptist Medical center, which is now Atlanta Medical Center, located in the heart of Atlanta
