WORLD HISTORY Week of: 6 – 9 February 2017 WPHS Learning Plan UNIT SIX — WORLD WARS AND REVOLUTIONS (1910-1955) CHAPTER 26 WORLD WAR ONE AND THE RUSSIAN REVOLUTION 1914-1924 PAGES 814-845 MONDAY Daily  Analyze the costs of World War I. 6 February Objectives  Describe the issues faced by the delegates to the Paris Peace Conference.  Explain why many people were dissatisfied with the treaty of Versailles and other peace settlements. Daily  Review the day’s objectives, and what was learned last week about America’s entry into WW I. Learning  Chapter 26 Section FOUR Making the Peace, pages 835-838. Plan  Review vocabulary terms in blue in the text.  Review the assigned pages, having students briefly summarize the major points in the subheadings on the students’ daily writes.  ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY: Distribute the primary sources document on The Attack on the League of Nations, and biography handout the handout on Woodrow Wilson; work through the salient details. Each student will take the role of an advisor to President Wilson and recommend to him what actions he should take to get the U.S. Senate to ratify the treaty admitting the U.S. into the League of Nations. Share results using the Maypole strategy.  Answer questions three though five on page 838 for the daily writes. TUESDAY Daily  Explain the causes of the March revolution. 7 February Objectives  Describe the goals of Lenin and the Bolsheviks in the November Revolution Daily  Review the day’s objectives, and what was learned yesterday about making the peace at the end of WW I. Learning  Chapter 26 Section FIVE Revolution and Civil War in Russia Part ONE pages 839-842. Plan  Review vocabulary terms in blue in the text.  Review the assigned pages, having students briefly summarize the major points in the subheadings on the students’ daily writes.  Distribute the primary sources document Mary Antin, a Little Jewish Girl Caught up in the Russian Pale; review and discuss in class.  ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY: on the daily writing sheets, take the role of a Jewish person living in Russia and write a journal entry of your life. Employ the slide rule to exchange information with other students.  Answer questions three through six in the daily writes. WEDNESDA Daily  Complete Your Understanding of the Major Points of World War One and the Russian Revolution Y Objectives 8 February Daily  Chapter 26 Section FIVE Revolution and Civil War in Russia Part TWO pages 839-842. Learning  View the Witness History Video Program The Fall of the Czar. Plan  Review the information needed to correctly respond to the selected response questions and essay questions (read both essay questions to the class). Then have each member of the class come up with three original questions and their answers from Chapter 26 (to be placed in their daily writing assignments).  ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY: Divide the class in half into two teams, and conduct a game allowing each half to answer a question (and score appoint) posed by the other team. Only five seconds to ask the question, fifteen seconds to respond (using the book is OK). Points only awarded for correct answers.
