Directions:

You are to create a power point presentation that will cover (1) one of the following areas:

1. Celts and Celtic Culture (pre- 1066 )

2. Paganism/ Druids/ Animism- what was it and what was the influence on literature and society during this era?

3. Angles, Saxons and Jutes- who were they, where did they come from and why did they come to Britain? Also- the formation of the Anglo-Saxon culture- society/way of life, language.

4. Anglo-Saxon Weapons and Art.

5. Roman influence on Britain- culture, religion, government.

6. Queen Boadicea (Boudicia)

7. Women in Anglo-Saxon culture and literature.

8. The introduction of Christianity- the monks, the church, influence on society.

9. The genre of poetry for this era: Scops, oral tradition, Epic poetry (defined) and kennings.

10. Ireland and its role in Anglo-Saxon Britain.

11. Epic Poems, kennings and alliterations- specifically how it applies to Anglo-Saxon poetry/literature.

12. Introduction to Beowulf: a BRIEF summary, historical relevance, characters and themes.

Power Point Directions:

 Your presentation must be AT LEAST 10 slides which DOES NOT include the title or resource slide.

 Must include a RESOURCE slide. This slide should list EACH website that you used to gather your information .

 You CANNOT use any wikispace- these are editable and therefore, NOT RELIABLE, sites. Do not use Blog sites either! (i.e. Wikipedia)  You must put your initials on the bottom RIGHT side of EACH slide you do.

 You must use AT LEAST 3 DIFFERENT web sites! Each slide should have the website listed.

 Each slide should have an image.

 Each person in your group must do at least 5 slides.

 You will be given 3 grades: (1) Individual Grade, (1) Group Grade and (1) Presentation Grade. The Individual grade is based on YOUR 5 slides, the group grade is the grade everyone gets and the presentation grade is for each person who is there the day of presentation. If you are not there then you do not receive a grade!
