 All athletes who achieved the ASA Junior “B’’ qualifying standard during the 2017 National Championships and appear on the latest 2017 ASA ranking lists are in the Squad.

 Athletes born in 2000 that formed part of the SA Youth team in 2017 and are placed in the Top 10 of the IAAF World Youth rankings are also included, as the selectors feel they deserve the opportunity to be in the squad and try to reach the ASA Junior ‘A’ Standard to be included in the Preliminary / Final IAAF World Junior Team.

 All athletes who would like to be in the Preliminary Team must achieve the ASA Junior “A” standard must show competition fitness in the period March 2018 till 6 weeks prior to the departure for the Championships.
