Syllabus: World History A 2015-2016 At the end of this course, you will:
• Have a working knowledge of World History…
• Understand historical points, political, economic and social changes, geographic factors, economic change, how people/culture have contributed to our world identity, revolution and reform, and government change.
• Be able to use Social Studies Skills: critical thinking to organize and use information, communicate in written, oral, and visual forms, use geographic tools to collect, analyze, and interpret data, and use problem solving and decision making skills.
Required Materials
To successfully complete this course, you will need to utilize your classroom textbook, notebook, handouts, online programs, and various sources for research including appropriate websites, maps, books, libraries, slides, and people (experts, historians, firsthand experience, interviews).
COURSE SCHEDULE (Based on a 9 week semester)
Unit 1: Foundations of Civilization 8000BC – 500BC 1 week
Unit 2: Emergence and Collapse of Classical Empires 500BC – 600AD 2 weeks
Unit 3: Medieval Rebuilding and Reconsolidation 600 -- 1450 2 week
Unit 4: Interactions and Diffusion 600 -- 1450 1 week
