Agenda Item 7.1 Presidents Report
As this is the last meeting we are having before the season ends, I’d like to thank all the clubs and board members for the assistance they have provided in making this season run smoothly. There were a few hiccups along the way but all in all, I think it has been a very successful season.
A reminder that the Association Presentation Night is being held on the 28th August at the Rules Club. Last year was well attended and a great night. Please let your club members know it is on so we can get another great turnout.
The board is looking for nominations for the Olive McWinney (sp??) award. The award is awarded to a member of the association who has gone above and beyond what was required with their service to the association for the season, be it coaching, managing, volunteering or just being around when required. If you have someone that you wish to nominate, can you please forward their name to [email protected] with why you believe they should receive the award and the board will discuss. The award will be presented on Grand Final day.
In response to the email regarding Junior numbers from last meeting, the board has held a workshop and will hold more over the coming season to come up with a strategic plan for the association, to not only try and increase junior numbers but also look at what we can do to increase senior numbers as well, and the profile of Wagga Hockey in general. We are looking at all aspects of the association (Competition, Representative, Umpires, 24th August WWCHA General Meeting Agenda 3 Facilities, etc.) and welcome any suggestions from members on what can be done. Can you please forward any idea/suggestions to [email protected] and we can add them to our workshop sessions. Once the strategic plan is completed we will then table it at the next available meeting for the whole committee to discuss.
Agenda Item 7. 5 Officiating Report
Benson Williams Officiating Report August 2015
Thanks to everyone we had attend the Umpire Briefing on Thursday night. We had ___ people attend. Can clubs please pass on to their members who have umpired in 2015 that they need to supply bank account details to myself of Karen Boyd. This will make the payment process a lot faster and more efficient. Sam and I have organised a Toyota Rav4 from Thomas Bros Toyota to promote the drive my club raffle during the finals series. We will have this parked inside the grounds every day of the entire finals series.
The FIH has recently released an update to a rule interpretation. Due to the stage of our season, the OC will not introduce this change until after this season. The guideline from FIH and HA is to not change this if it differs to what you are currently playing locally as they understand the impact on the game it has. If you would like more information about what I am talking about, let me know.
Technical Officials for finals: The OC would like to propose that all TO’s get paid $10 per match. All clubs will be rostered onto matches and must supply a suitable TO for these matches. TO’s on Grand finals will be named by the OC.
TO’s are responsible for the starting and stopping of the match clock, recording goal scorers, timing of temporary suspensions (Green and Yellow cards) and assisting umpires with management of team benches and spectators. All TO’s will be given easy to read clear instructions of their duties.

Rules for Finals: Just clarifying the rules for finals: • The match clock will stop at all times when umpires signal time off • All temporary suspensions will be managed by the Tech Bench Matches the end normal time in a draw: • The match will proceed directly to penalty shootouts (no extra time) • There will be a 4 minute break in play • Each team must nominate 5 players in order to take the penalties • An independent official will operate a 8 second timer • Attackers will start on the 23m line – Goalkeepers will start behind the baseline inside the goal • Umpires will signal time on and the 8 seconds begin • The ball must fully cross the line before the end of the 8 seconds • If the goalkeeper fouls and would normally be penalised with a penalty corner, this will result in a re-take of the penalty • If the goalkeeper fouls and would normally be penalised with a penalty stroke, a stroke may be awarded and taken as per normal • If the attacker fouls – a free hit is awarded to the goalkeeper and the penalty is over. • Any players with a temporary suspension (green or yellow card) will be permitted to take or defend a penalty • Any players with a permanent suspension (red card) will not be permitted to take or defend a penalty
If you have any questions regarding these rules please let me know and I will clarify this.
