Regulations and Obligations of East Asia Barometer (EAB)

Rules and Obligations Governing the Access to South Asian Barometer Survey Data

The Asian Barometer Survey is essentially a cross-national survey project. Under the data- sharing agreement among our Asian collaborators, we have made our merged South Asian Barometer dataset which covers five South Asian countries and territories and all the variables contained in the core questionnaire freely accessible to scholars and experts worldwide upon application. To encourage academic exchange and the sharing of survey research, data from the first wave and second wave of the South Asian Barometer survey covering five countries (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal) are now released. The files for release include the common questionnaire in English, the data files (in SPSS format).

The South Asia Wave1 data only contains questions in Set B. For Wave1 questions of Set A or technical issues, including sampling methods, please kindly contact the South Asia Team (E-mail address: Lokniti Official ) or check the following website: http://www.lokniti.org/Other_Studies.php.

In addition, the South Asia Wave2 data only contains questions in Set A. For questions of Set B or technical issues, including sampling methods, please kindly contact the South Asia Team (E-mail address: Lokniti Official ) or check the following website: http://www.lokniti.org/Other_Studies.php.

Under the same agreement, however, our data release policy does not cover country-specific variables that some country teams have collected out of their own resources and for their own research purposes. The Asian Barometer Survey has no authority over the release of these country specific data except for the Taiwan survey. Anyone who would like to get access to country-specific variables from other countries and territories should contact the responsible individual country team directly.

To encourage academic exchange and the sharing of survey research, The Asian Barometer Survey has collated and released the South Asian Barometer survey data from each country for reference and use by the academic community.
