JOB DESCRIPTION

CITY OF CAMDENTON, MISSOURI

POSITION TITLE: Aquatic Facility Manager

DEPARTMENT: Administration

REPORTS TO: City Administrator

DEFINITION: Under the supervision of the city administrator, the aquatic facility manager administers all aspects of the aquatic facility. Specific responsibilities include:

1. overall safety of the facility for patrons and staff 2. supervise, evaluate and schedule department personnel 3. inspection, maintenance, and operation of pool equipment 4. plan, negotiate and direct facility operations in accordance with standard operating procedure 5. purchase supplies for concession and facility 6. conduct training sessions utilizing updated safety information regularly, observe and recommend improvements in operational techniques 7. other tasks assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: In order to hold the aquatic facility manager position an employee must:

1. be in good physical health 2. be able to understand and execute verbal and written instructions 3. be able to work under standard operating procedures and abide by policies stated in or granted by the municipal code 4. be able to work cooperatively and effectively with general public, supervisors, subordinates, and other employees 5. possess good communication and public relations skills 6. have a valid Missouri drivers license 7. have a four (4) year college degree in the field of aquatics management, park and recreation, physical education, education, or related field; or an equivalent amount of relevant experience 8. a minimum of three (3) years of work experience in an aquatic setting 9. possess organizational skills necessary to plan, schedule, and supervise the aquatic facility 10. qualified as a lifeguard under the American Red Cross lifeguard protection program 11. certified lifeguard instructor (preferred) 12. certified pool operator (CPO) or aquatic operator (AFO) (preferred)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: While performing the duties of this job the employee will:

 frequently required to sit and talk or hear  use hands to operate, lift, grasp, carry, push or pull 25 pounds  sight, hearing, speech, frequent lateral mobility

Updated 7/04  lifting items above head  climbing ladders or steps  stooping and bending  squatting, sorting, kneeling and reaching to ground level and overhead as required for such tasks as required at the Aquatic Facility  be able to hold and grip objects  mentally analyze a situation  solve problems  make decisions under pressure in area of responsibility  may work a varied schedule including some evenings and weekends  may be subject to pre-employment physical and drug testing  subject to monthly random drug and alcohol testing  may be exposed to extreme weather conditions, dust and/or pollen  ability to work outdoors in hot weather  frequently works near moving parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibrations

INITIAL MERIT LEVEL: Salaried seasonal employee The aquatic facility manager is appointed, employed and compensated at the discretion of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen.
