PEPP YEAC Status Report

The PEPP YEAC is currently wrapping up two projects that we have been working on over the last 2 years.

First is the Engineers in Elected Office project. This project is a presentation that can be distributed to any local NSPE chapter. Surveys were sent out to all engineers in elected office that we could find. Additionally, we have added video footage of personal interviews with two of the survey respondents. We are looking to secure one additional interview by February in order to wrap the project up for presentation to the PEPP Board in June or July of 2008.

Our second project is regarding the motivation of young engineers in the workplace. This project began with a survey that we opened to any engineer that wanted to participate. We received over 600 responses, which led to a wealth of insight from not only young engineers but the entire engineering community. We feel that this document will serve as a great resource for companies to fine tune their recruitment and retention strategies. This document will also be presented to the PEPP Board in June or July of 2008.

Additionally, we are looking at presenting a web seminar through NSPE in April or May. The topic is “How to Engage Young Engineers”. This is a topic that we are always looking at in some form with our projects. We will be pulling information from previous projects which will showcase our group and the quality products we prepare.

Also this year, we were asked by the NSPE Director of Publications, David Siegel to submit questions for an interview with Dr. Raymond Daddazio, PE to be published an article in the January issue of PE Magazine. The questions submitted focused on leadership, management, and career development issues. We believe that this also is a good opportunity for us to showcase our group.
