Accounting 205 Online Discussion Board Rubric
Protocol for posting threads and contributing to an online discussion are as follows: Postings should be evenly distributed during the discussion period (not concentrated all on one day or at the beginning and/or end of the period). Postings in response to other students’ answers should be a maximum of two paragraphs. Posting must be in complete sentences and constitute a complete original idea or opinion. If you choose to ask a question in your post, that is encouraged, but must be executing correctly. Do not simply list a simple question such as “How should overhead be calculated?” Instead, try, “I read in the text in chapter 3 that it is usually calculated at the beginning of the year, do you think it would ever be appropriate to adjust the allocation rate during the year?” Avoid postings that are limited to 'I agree' or 'great idea', etc. If you agree (or disagree) with a posting then say why you agree by supporting your statement with concepts from the readings or by bringing in a related example or experience. Stay on topic and address the presented questions (don't let the discussion stray). At least one post should include a reference to the text or supporting cited sources. Proper documentation should be used for all references (please use APA formatting). Build on classmate’s responses to create threads. Bring in related prior knowledge (work experience, prior coursework, readings, etc.) Use proper netiquette (proper language, typing, etc. for the internet).

Example: Only one post was made during the week but it was excellent. 12/30
The above rubric will be used for each week. The total points for class participation will be 300. That is 30 points per week for 10 weeks which will constitute 20% of your grade.
