FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Greeters

Description: Another ministry which can have a huge impact on members and guests, alike. We all like to be greeted by a smiling face and welcoming word or two. The exterior door Greeters provide the smiles and words and make every effort to make everyone coming through our doors feel at home.

Tasks include:  Standing at the exterior doors before an assigned service to welcome the members and visitors into the building.  Returning to the doors a couple of minutes before dismissal at the same service to see the people out with another friendly word.  Familiarizing yourself with the building and the location of the major activities going on every Sunday morning or on special occasions. The Weekly will mention special  happenings and their locations. Review these when you first get to church.  Answering questions as best you can, or directing the inquirer to the Connection Center, if the answer is not known or you’re not sure.  Showing someone who needs directions to the location in question or, once again, referring him to the Connection Center.  Taking a “fair” number of turns at the doors during multi-service holiday celebrations, if in town.

Ushers

Description: The Ushers are the third or fourth welcoming smile offered by the First Impressions Ministries. They see the guests into the auditorium before the service and usher them out at the end with a friendly good-bye.

Tasks include:  Welcoming guests into the auditorium.  Handing out the Weekly and other pieces as needed.  Close and stage the doors at the proper time.  Offer seating assistance to members and guests. Direct parents with babies and toddlers to the “baby section”.  Remain alert to late comers for hand-outs and seating.  Collect the offering and count the people in an assigned section.  Return to the doors just before the service ends to see the guests out.  Taking a “fair” number of turns at the doors during multi-service holiday celebrations, if in town.

Connection Center Attendant Description: The Connection Center provides a source of information about Spring Branch ministries and events. The attendants offer a welcoming smile while answering questions or giving directions and often provide a safe harbor for a visitor in a sea of strangers. We also assist in the sale of CD's.

Tasks include:

 Being in position at the CC Desk in the Atrium both before and a few minutes into your assigned (to assist late-comers) and again a few minutes before and remaining after the same service is dismissed. This may be the third “touch” we make on a Sunday morning, after the Parking Team and the Greeters, to a first-time visitor, but this could be the most important contact of all. At this point, they are interested enough to ask a question, and so your attitude and response is critical.

 Being familiar with the building and the location of the major activities going on or special functions happening on your assigned Sunday morning. The Weekly will mention special events and their locations. Review these when you first get to church. Ask for clarification if you need to.

 Knowing the names of key people that you can refer questions to, depending on the subject of the question..

 Taking a “fair” number of turns at the desk during multi-service holiday celebrations, if in town.
