Section 2331600 of the 1976 Code, as last amended 28 by Act 228 of 2014, is further amended to read: 29 30 “Section 2331600. (A) For purposes of this section: 31 (1) ‘Identification card’ is a photographic identification card 32 complying with 18 U.S.C. Section 926C. 33 (2) ‘Qualified retired law enforcement officer’ shall have the 34 same meaning as in 18 U.S.C. Section 926C. 35 (B) An agency or department within this State may comply 36 with 18 U.S.C. Section 926C, by issuing an identification card to 37 any qualified retired law enforcement officer. If the agency or 38 department currently issues credentials to active law enforcement 39 officers, the agency or department may comply with the 40 requirements of this section by issuing the same credentials to 41 qualified retired law enforcement officers. If the same credentials

[4404] 2 1 are issued, then the agency or department must stamp the 2 credentials with the word ‘RETIRED’. 3 (C)(1) Subject to the limitations of subsection (E), A qualified 4 retired law enforcement officer may carry a concealed weapon in 5 this State if the qualified retired law enforcement officer possesses 6 an identification card along with a certification that the qualified 7 retired law enforcement officer has, not less recently than one year 8 before the date the individual is carrying the firearm, met the 9 standards established by the agency for training and qualification 10 for active law enforcement officers to carry a firearm of the same 11 type as the concealed firearm. 12 (2) The firearms certification required by this subsection 13 may be reflected on the identification card or may be in a separate 14 document carried with the identification card. 15 (D) The restrictions contained in Sections 2331220 and 16 2331225 are applicable to a person carrying a concealed weapon 17 pursuant to this section. 18 (E) The agency or department must provide the qualified 19 retired law enforcement officer with the opportunity to qualify to 20 carry a firearm under the same standards for training and 21 qualification for active law enforcement officers to carry firearms. 22 However, the agency or department, as provided in 18 U.S.C. 23 Section 926C, may require the qualified retired law enforcement 24 officer to pay the actual expenses of the training and qualification.” 25 26 SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the 27 Governor. 28 XX 29
