MAYOR MCCALL ENFORCES BOARD RULES

(Cahokia, IL.)—The Village of Cahokia Mayor Curtis McCall Jr had to enforce board rules during a recent Village board meeting after two residents, including a board member, became disruptive. The board member was openly discussing personnel issues, which is strictly prohibited according to Section 2(c) of Illinois Open Meetings Act.

The individuals in question were asked on several occasions to take their seats and remain quiet so that he could move forward with other agenda items. After they refused, they were escorted out by members of the Cahokia Police Department.

“As Mayor and the presiding officer, I have the authority to ensure that the public respect the decorum of the meetings,” said Mayor Curtis McCall Jr. “Any person whose behavior disrupts the conduct of the meeting is subject to removal; as was the case on Tuesday night.”
