FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Livingston- According to District Attorney Scott M. Perrilloux, on April 5, 2012, Travis M. Dantzler, 26, of Strawberry Lane, Hammond, LA, pleaded no contest to Armed Robbery with a Firearm (2 counts), and Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

He was sentenced by Judge Bruce Bennett to 15 years with the department of corrections for each count of Armed Robbery, and 10 years at hard labor for the second offense. Assistant District Attorney Charlotte Herbert prosecuted the case.

Dantzler, along with accomplice Augustus Trey Fox, III, 28, of Bell Road, Springfield, LA, entered an Independence convenience store on April 20, 2011, masked and armed with guns. The pair demanded money from the store owner and a customer. They then ran to a waiting vehicle and sped away. A nearby Sheriff’s deputy was alerted, and pulled the vehicle over. Dantzler and Fox fled on foot, while the driver stayed with the car.

Officers with police dogs soon apprehend the suspects. At the police station, both admitted to having weapons and robbing the convenience store. They also acknowledged that the driver knew nothing about the intended robbery, and the charges against him were dismissed.

Fox pleaded no contest to Armed Robbery (2 counts) on February 1, 2012. He was sentenced to 15 years with the department of corrections for each count. Assistant District Attorney David Guidry prosecuted the case.

All time for both Dantzler and Fox is to be served concurrently, said Perrilloux.
