Apologies: Brian and Sue Gray, Sharon Knight, Veronica Dwyer, John Watts and John Osborn.

Visitors: Bill Degnan – Assistant Governor, Jeanette Henwood and Jenni Thomas, Sale Club. Work friends of Michelle – Claire, Tarnia, Pauline, George, Leah, Grant and Beth. Also ‘Robbo’, Wayne Robinson.

President, Graeme, announced that John Dwyer, son of Veronica and Stephen, received horrific injuries in a light airplane accident earlier today, Thursday. Sandra offered prayers on our behalf for John, his parents and family, also for the other injured person and the medical staff who are attending to both patients. John underwent extensive surgery as we met. Our thoughts are with the family.

Reports: Attendance – 8 members and Michelle (our visiting Rotoract member) present. Members delivered and returned the caravan during the week and sold raffle tickets. Arthur’s Swindle – was it rigged?? Neil Wishart was the lucky winner.

Secretary – Correspondence was circulated and included a Certificate of Appreciation from the American Truck Historical Society for the Club’s assistance at their display in Maffra late last year. All members of Rotary who will be working with youth are to have “Working with Children Check” – a speaker, in the near future, to address the club. Jenni told us that the application can be done easily on line. Helen has offered to produce the Club Bulletin while Dianne is on holidays. Thanks, Helen.

Bill Degnan – a breakfast is to be held in Melbourne as a thank you to the mentors who took part in the Police/Rotary Mentor program. Roger was a mentor to an officer at Sale Station.

Milestones: Neil’s 85th Birthday – celebrated with a cake for dessert. Thanks, Tash and Nathan. Other birthdays mentioned were Sandra, Sharon, Ted and Roger, who also joined Rotary in August 1984 and John, who joined August in 2000.

Father’s Day Raffle: Confirmation of sellers for Friday 4th. **Can a member sell tickets with Neil, 9.30 am on Wednesday, 9th August, as Veronica may be unavailable? $222.00 was banked after sales in the street this week.

Helen baffled us with some Trivia which included a spelling test, an ‘All at Sea’ and ‘Ship’ quiz and a ‘Wacky Wordies’ sheet. Well done everyone!

Next meeting is a Scatter meeting and Members are encouraged to visit other Clubs.

Caravan – August 4th delivery by Brian and returned by Cath. (Delivered to Meddings Automotive for repairs). August 11th delivery by Cath and returned by John Osborn.

President Graeme thanked all the visitors and Helen for the Trivia games. He acknowledged Michelle’s contribution to our club during her eight month stay in Maffra and presented her with a RC of Maffra Banner.

The members wished Dianne and Graeme a happy holiday and he then closed the meeting.

ROSTERS PLEASE READ ALL THE ROSTERS. When YOU are rostered on for duty and YOU are unavailable, please let Helen know as soon as possible so a swap can be arranged.
