Mr. Carfagno 6 th Grade Seminar

Welcome to Belleville Middle School! I hope every parent/guardian/student had an excellent summer! I am looking forward to an exciting 2017-2018 school year and cannot wait to work with each and every one of you throughout the year.

Classroom Rules

1. ALWAYS be respectful and polite to teachers and students in the classroom. Think of the Golden Rule: you should treat others how you want to be treated.

2. When the teacher or other students are talking in the classroom, all students should be listening and not talking to their fellow classmates.

3. Students address each other in a positive and respective manner. THERE WILL BE ABSOLUTLY NO making fun or joking around inside of the classroom. That is a form of bullying and there will be NO TOLERANCE.

4. Students will be allowed to go to the bathroom during the first 10 minutes of class. Please raise your hand and wait to be called upon and exit the classroom quietly.

5. Always remember, if any student is not getting a particular concept or subject, please be free to ask any questions that are needed to understand what we are learning and I will help you further.

Grading

The grading policy will consist of: 40% tests, 40% quizzes, 10% homework/classwork, and 10% class participation/behavior. Other assignments including projects and essays will be included as tests and quizzes were applicable.

Classroom Penalties

If a student is being disrespectful to the teacher or other classmates, the following will happen:

First Offense: Verbal Warning

Second Offense: Detention Served with the Teacher  Detention is only in the MORNING! Detention will start at 8:15am and will end at 8:40am

Third Offense: A phone call home to the parent/guardian and a conference with the student’s parent/guardian

Fourth Offense: Student will get written up and be sent to the principal’s offense Homework and Class Work

1. All work is due on the due date assigned. Homework is worth 100 points each. Any homework handed in later than the assigned due date, the homework will be lowered one letter grade. If the homework is not shown to the teacher after 5 days from the assigned date, your homework will receive a “0” and I no longer accept the assignment.

2. There will absolutely no cheating or plagiarism allowed of any kind. Plagiarism is the copying of another student’s work or work of any kind. If caught plagiarizing or cheating, the student will automatically receive a “0” as well as the student you copied the work from. Also, your parent/guardian will be called and have a conference with me.

Materials Needed for Class Everyday: 1. A Binder or Notebook with 3 sections titled: Do Now, Notes/Vocabulary, and Homework. 2. Folder for Worksheets handed out in class. 3. 2-3 Pencils or Pens (Any color except Red)
