Residence Hall Posting Guidelines

Residence Hall Posting Guidelines: 2008-2009 *All Signs Need To Be Approved By Central Office Staff*  The Residence Life Staff will assist in the distribution of fliers up to one per floor or section in a building for a total of 60 for Fall Semester and 64 for Spring Semester.  All fliers must be approved by the Residence Life Office between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Fliers should be brought to the Residence Life Office at least 3 days prior to the event and before noon on Fridays to ensure timely posting by the staff.  The name of the organization or department must be printed somewhere on the flier.  Each approved flier will need to be stamped at RLO with a “fresh through” date, up to the day after the event or a maximum of three weeks. This helps to ensure that students continue to view the areas for new information. Organizations requesting approval are responsible for stamping all fliers and distributing them in the hall mailboxes at RLO.  If your organization is sponsoring more than one activity per week, we ask that you create one flier listing all of the activities for the Residence Life Staff to post. This assists in keeping informational boards orderly and the staff from being overwhelmed with fliers.  There will also be one bulletin board designated for informational posting in each hall and the student mailroom. The organization is responsible for posting an additional flier in these locations if they choose (for a total of 12 fliers).  Organizations may use scotch tape, masking tape, thumbtacks, or staples to post in the above areas; please NO duct tape, double- sided tape or glue.  Only fliers from recognized student organizations and University departments will be distributed and posted by staff.  Any postings not following the above guidelines will be removed and discarded. Fliers that will NOT be approved for posting:

 Advertisement of alcohol (except for an approved on-campus event).  Advertisement of any illegal substance.

 Fliers containing content that would be considered offensive to the reasonable person (e.g. nudity, obscenities, etc.)

 Any posting by an organization that is not recognized by the University.

 Posters larger than 11X17 (except with prior approval).
