HA1603 Mirage 2000C Tiger Eyes

This review is based on a pre-production model and might differ slightly from the retail version with the retail version being the better of the two.

I’m not going to get into any thing technical about this model or any model for that matter. I’m looking for something that is visually appealing, a good paint and markings application and parts that fit well. Just the general things most average collectors will look for and appreciate. I’ll leave any technical points of view up to others. Since this is a pre-production model I received it in a plain white box so I cannot comment on the packaging or the graphics.

WOW!!!!! What a great paint scheme. From the moment you open the box this model seems to pounce right out at you. Not much wonder it is referred to as “Tiger Eyes”. This is one difficult paint scheme to copy and I must say Hobby Master did a great job. The markings are superb, the paint extremely well done with no sign of a wash applied. The only way I can describe this model is to call it a work of art. The metal content is in the high 90 percentile with a minimum of plastic. The landing gear is metal and is a real breeze to change from wheels up to wheels down. This model came with the door for the nose gear when it is in the up position, the previous model didn’t. I personally like to display my models on the stand with the gear down and any weapons or accessories that come with it. As usual Hobby Master has given us the option to use the weapons or not, they aren’t permanently fastened on. The canopy is perfectly clear and flawless and an absolute perfect fit with the fuselage. Again Hobby Master provides an option, the canopy can be in the closed or open position depending on your preference. The cockpit interior comes with a stick and a black instrument panel adorned with white outlined gauges that make it very easy to see them. The only thing missing is the pilot but I hope they will have one for these models very soon. The ring around the nose cone is still present as it was on the first two releases and I suspect it will be there for releases 4, 5 and 6 (I’m assuming there will be this many). This however is not a big turn off in any way, just a small side note. If you like Mirage 2000Cs, Tiger Meet paint schemes, Hobby Master’s reputation for quality and reasonable pricing then this definitely is a must have model. Just when you think it can’t get any better; this is a Limited Edition with only 1800 pieces worldwide. So what are you waiting for????
