NEW YORK CITY/BOSTON Past, Present, Progress?: The MUNDO Boston/NYC Alternative Break Experience (March 11-20, 2016)

About the Experience: Past, Present, Progress?: The MUNDO Boston/NYC 2016 experience is designed to help participants reflect on how to serve, learn and lead in an increasingly multicultural society.

As part of the experience students will have an opportunity to answer the following questions:  Who are we serving? How do we determine whether these communities/individuals want or need our help?  How do encourage others to be willing to learn about communities different from the ones with which they are already familiar?  What makes a leader?  How do you define progress? What is the difference between where we are and where we’ve been? Has progress been made? Do you think progress will be made in the future?

Past, Present, Progress?: ACTION TEAM:  Betty Arias, Residence Hall, University Housing Director  Athena Ermidis, ACTION TEAM Leader  Mackenzie Lynes, ACTON TEAM Leader  Julius Mayo, MUNDO Coordinator  Leslie Robinson, Residence Hall Director, University Housing  Ana Sucaldito, ACTION TEAM Leader

 Fun Home Description: Fun Home introduces us to Alison at three different ages, revealing memories of her uniquely dysfunctional family – her mother, brothers and volatile, brilliant, enigmatic father – that connect with her in surprising new ways. This intimate and emotional theatrical experience is performed entirely in the round, bringing audiences closer to Alison’s story than ever before. A refreshingly honest musical about seeing your parents through grown- up eyes, Fun Home is “a blazingly original heartbreaker and a nonstop treasure of invention.” This is a musical.

 The Crucible: Arthur Miller’s The Crucible returns to Broadway in a new production directed by the acclaimed Belgian director Ivo van Hove. Set during the Salem witch trials of the 1690s, The Crucible is a timeless parable of morality, a scorching indictment of intolerance, and a central work in the canon of American drama. This is a play.
