Know your rights when a sales agent knocks:
It’s ok to say no if you are approached by a sales agent at your door, you don’t have to agree to anything.
Check their identity card. By law they must tell you their name, business contact details and why they’re there.
Speak to them through a screen door or ask them to return when you have someone with you. If you want them to leave, tell them – they must leave immediately.
You do not have to agree to anything on the spot – if you feel pressured to sign anything, tell the sales agent that you want time to consider the offer.
It’s ok to change your mind – if you agree to buy from a door to door sales agent but later decide that the offers not for you, you can cancel any contract without reason within 10 business days.

Home Care Packages are changing
Council wants to assist residents to understand the changes to the Australian Government Home Care Package Program.
Home Care Packages are a bundle of tailored services provided to people with complex needs. A formal assessment is required.
These packages will be delivered on a consumer directed care basis from 1 July 2015.
Under consumer directed care the consumer must be allowed to decide the level of involvement they want in managing their package of services. You could control coordination of care and services, and the level of involvement in your Home Care Package. It’s up to you.
Men’s Shed Up-Cycling Shop Men’s Shed Aberfeldie, 5 Rutherford Street, Aberfeldie, has an Up-Cycling Shop which is open to the public and proudly sells items built or restored by Men’s Shed participants.

Page 3 Community Meals and Transport Oh what fun it is to ride on a Community Transport bus Community Meals and Transport held Christmas Lights tours over four nights in December, where over 300 residents attended. They enjoyed a Christmas dinner at Ascot Vale Neighbourhood Centre followed by a tour of magnificent displays of Christmas lights and nativity scenes.
Meals were provided by Community Meals Dining Room Café and transport by Councils Community Transport, with these sessions were supported by our Direct Care staff.
A number of residents called the next day with their positive feedback. Some of the feedback was;
“I just wanted to say I enjoyed myself on the lights tour and the meal was lovely as well can’t wait for next year”
“I just wanted to say thank you for such an amazing night. The staff were great hosts, the meal was really enjoyable and the lights were amazing, they took me back to my childhood memories of Christmas!”
