PORTFOLIO ASSESSMENT GUIDE
Your portfolio assignments are very important and are meant to be a lasting reference for the course. One of the main goals of this course is that you can accurately and clearly model each type of problem from the course. To encourage and support accuracy and quality in your presentations the following assessment procedures will be used.
EACH PORTFOLIO ASSIGNMENT (1.1, 1.2, ETC.) WILL BE WORTH UP TO A TOTAL OF 20 POINTS (There are 18 portfolios)
EACH COMPLETED DRAFT PORTFOLIO ASSIGNMENT BROUGHT TO CLASS FOR PEER REVIEW WILL BE WORTH 5 POINTS (There are 14 peer review opportunities)
PORTFOLIO POINTS BREAKDOWN

Portfolio Assessment, Page 2 FIRST SUBMISSION AND RESUBMISSION ASSESSMENT GUIDELINES
FIRST SUBMISSION SCORE After each portfolio is turned in and assessed your 1st submission score will displayed at the bottom of your portfolio cover sheet in one of these categories. FIRST SUBMISSION TOTAL SCORE
PERFECT PORTFOLIO 20 points
Satisfactory 14 – 19.5 No resubmit option /20 Low 0 - 13.5 Resubmit recommended /20
A (total) Portfolio Write-Up score of 14 POINTS OR HIGHER (70% or more) is considered to be SATISFACTORY.
A (total) Portfolio Write-Up score of 13.5 POINTS OR LOWER (less than 70%) is considered to be LOW AND NOT SATISFACTORY. A review and resubmit process is available for LOW scores.
RESUBMISSION (LOW SCORE REVIEW AND REWRITE OPTION) In the case of a LOW score, you are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to rewrite and resubmit your portfolio. This rewrite and resubmission option has been created to help you to achieve better understanding (& scores!) for the rest of the term.
OFFICE HOUR REVIEW For EVERY low scoring portfolio, you are REQUIRED to come to office hours to discuss your portfolio and rewrite ideas if your 1st submission score is 13.5 points or lower and you wish to resubmit your portfolio. You are, of course, welcome to come by for help at any time, even if you do not intend to rewrite your portfolio.
RESUBMIT TURN IN TIMELINE (See also the Resubmit Turn In Guide) If your score is LOW you will have THREE CLASS DAYS to: Look over your portfolio assessment comments and to double check the directions, checklist, assessment guide and turn in guide Come by office hours for the REQUIRED help and review (appointments are available if you cannot attend office hours). Often a short discussion will really help! Rewrite and resubmit your work, your resubmit deadline date will be written at the bottom of your 1st submission coversheet and, like all assignments, your portfolio resubmission will be due by 4:30 p.m. on the due date.
Portfolio Assessment, Page 3 You may resubmit UP TO FOUR portfolios in this course.
RESUBMISSION GRADING Your resubmitted portfolio will be assessed in exactly the same way that your 1st submission is assessed. Your PORTFOLIO SCORE for any resubmitted portfolio will be the AVERAGE of your 1st submission score and your resubmission score.
END OF TERM NOTE Portfolio assignments 9.1 and 9.2 (for Lab 9) are due at the end of the term and there will be no time for a resubmission process.
