Young 21 Document Path: l:\council\bills\gm\24406htc10.docx 22 23 Introduced in the House on January 21, 2010 24 Introduced in the Senate on January 21, 2010 25 Adopted by the General Assembly on January 21, 2010 26 27 Summary: James Amick 28 29 30 HISTORY OF LEGISLATIVE ACTIONS 31 32 Date Body Action Description with journal page number 33 1/21/2010 House Introduced, adopted, sent to Senate HJ18 34 1/21/2010 Senate Introduced, adopted, returned with concurrence SJ14 35 36 37 VERSIONS OF THIS BILL 38 39 1/21/2010 40 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 10 11 TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE JAMES AMICK FOR FIFTY 12 YEARS OF SERVICE IN THE LOWER RICHLAND RURITAN 13 CLUB; AND TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS MANY ACTS OF 14 KINDNESS TO THOSE IN NEED. 15 16 Whereas, the General Assembly of South Carolina is pleased to 17 honor James Amick for the many ways he promotes awareness of 18 the needs in his community and seeks to provide relief and 19 compassion to those in need; and 20 21 Whereas, a charter member of the Lower Richland Ruritan Club, 22 he served on the board for three years and held the offices of 23 treasurer, vice president, and president, and he had a perfect 24 attendance for fifty years; and 25 26 Whereas, he served the Columbia Ruritan District as the zone 27 governor, lieutenant governor, and governor, and on the national 28 level he served three years on the board and was elected president 29 of the National Ruritan in 1983; and 30 31 Whereas, he actively seeks ways to serve his community by 32 organizing fund raisers to benefit community and individual needs, 33 such as providing glasses for those in need, helping a child with a 34 brain tumor, or paying light bills and collecting food for the needy; 35 and 36 37 Whereas, he has served his community as a guest speaker for 38 Richland County Public Schools, and as a member of the Principal 39 Advisor Board for Hopkins Junior High School, the FHA Bank 40 board, and the Palmetto Richland Memorial cancer board; and 41

[4400] 2 1 Whereas, as an active member of Asbury United Methodist 2 Church, he served on the board of trustees and as president of the 3 Sunday school class, and he was a charter member of the Asbury 4 Men’s Club; and 5 6 Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are grateful for 7 the spirit of service that has guided the life of James Amick and for 8 the benefit he has brought to his community, State, and nation. 9 Now, therefore, 10 11 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate 12 concurring: 13 14 That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this 15 resolution, honor and recognize James Amick for fifty years of 16 service in the Lower Richland Ruritan Club; and commend him for 17 his many acts of kindness to those in need. 18 19 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 20 James Amick. 21 XX 22
