REPORTING ON OFFICIALS
Notes for guidance for all “chief” officials:
You must provide a mark for all officials in your team and support this with a clear brief note of explanation for any official whose performance was judged on the day as anything other than “normal”. Separate suggestions are attached for Timekeeping and Track Judging; I am awaiting something similar for Starting/Marking and Field Judging.
The system to be used is A to D with B being the marking expected of most officials. A is clearly an unexpectedly good performance on the day, C is a performance which gave you cause for concern and D is a thoroughly unacceptable performance. You must inform the Meeting Manager prior to leaving the meeting if you are going to give any official a D; you must also speak to the official on the day. It is accepted that it will normally not feasible for the Chief Timekeeper to do this until he has completed his analysis. Meeting Managers should report on the performance of each of their team of “chief” officials on how well they did their “chiefing” job.
