Dear Members Kitcheners 6 4 1 1 38 9 With this issue we can wish a happy new year to all our members. The year certainly started on a positive note, with an excellent New Year’s Eve meal. We Chess Vale 7 4 1 2 15 9 thank Sylvia Ewington for all her considerable efforts in preparing such a fine meal and for the organisational skills required to cater for so many and, of course, David for doing as he’s told. Thanks also go to the family of Lily and Fred Hall for Dodgers 7 4 1 2 14 9 donating a most impressive looking bench in their memory. They will both be remembered fondly and it is fitting to see a permanent reminder of their time at the club. In addition they have very generously donated a further £1000 to be spent on Nomads 7 3 1 3 -5 7 something within the club and the committee is inviting suggestions on how this may be spent. It is time again to get entries in for club competitions and we hope that we receive Cassio 6 3 3 31 6 the same enthusiastic support as in previous years. More support would be especially welcomed in the ladies singles competition, as this was the one area last year, where there were very few entries. Remember there is a £1.50 entry fee Killroys 7 1 1 5 -49 3 for each competition, but you can enter all competitions, for which you qualify, for a total of £5.00. I’m sure that David has been busy preparing our fixture list for the coming season Radlett 5 1 4 -45 2 and we thank him for this. I understand we have a new fixture against Anne and Bill’s old club.., so there’s one to look forward to. We always make a plea at this Ricky RBL 6 1 5 -60 2 4 1 time of year, for everyone to make an effort to encourage new blood into the club 22nd Feb Bell A Away and hope that you can again give this some thought. 1st March Bell B Away Steve Woods Editor 8th Black Cat Home March 15th Red Lion Away March

Captain Clive’s Corner What’s going on …... Only one match has been played, which was at Woodside in early December, resulting in a 3 all draw, but we lost overall on shot difference. We donated a bottle of whiskey, which was the prize for the spider and Social Evening which raised money for the Zippers charity. There is another fixture with Feb 12th Cockney Sovereign Woodside on Sunday 6th February and the team will be selected in the next few days. Also there is a fixture with Herts coming up in early March, this is also indoors.
