Make recommendations regarding campus safety, emergency procedures, care, security of equipment, and hazardous waste management. Consider and make recommendations in matters related to facilities, parking, traffic, transportation, lighting, water, energy and campus aesthetics Minutes

1. Call to Order: Meeting came to order at 2:35pm 2. Approval of Minutes: Minutes approved for November 20th 3. Review List of SIPE Granted Funding Requests: A. Approval to Purchase of approved items from SIPE  (moved by Justin-2nd by Scott)  #10 pairs of safety glasses, Welding face shield  #2 sets Bilson Thunder earmuffs, #4- 2” sling straps  #25- 18” orange cones with 6” reflective sleeves, Step ladder, #2- 6 ft. fiberglass ladders, #1 -8 ft. fiberglass ladder, Work light 4. Mission Statement Revision: Need to research other mission statements for examples of how to improve ours and to fulfill Cuesta's, SIPE and OSHA standards - Membership is not diverse enough per OSHA standards - review of membership needs to be completed - campaign for active membership 5. Discuss Financial Accountability for our Funding Sources: Discussion on election of treasurer - need layout of duties and time allotment to maintain up-to-date financial information for monthly meetings 6. Update on MSDS Online Program: proposal submitted and research for pricing of 1yr program - information will be provided to committee for review 7. Discuss Moving the Smoking Area Out of Cougar Park: Requested by ASCC and Foundation for committee to discuss the move of smoking area currently located at Cougar Park (as you enter CP it’s the pathway towards the left off bricks facing Humanities building) to be moved to: as you walk from Administration building before Cougar Park turn left -its the main pathway approximately 100 feet currently benches there - approval of movement to take place (moved by Justin-2nd by Bart) and review of all other smoking area in ad hoc members to be Terry Reece, Bart Topham, Scott DeMello and Nanette Piña 8. Update on SIPE Meeting 12/11/08: Review of meeting notes provided by Lynn Quillian 9. Introduction of Rob Therese from Engineering & Technology: Rob would like to be assigned to the committee-Nanette to follow up to an "official" request can be made to the Faculty Union 10. Round Table: Discussion of Caught in the Act (Program 1) and Online Training (Program 2) for process, flyers, email etc., - Discussion of anti-litter campaign - included litter campaign in Safety Newsletters - how to implementation Safety Newsletter distribution to students-include area in student paper? Scott DeMello attended a Pesticide Seminar and noted that the Waste Diversion Board who recently came to our Campus for a meet-n-greet which turned into a little audit but was impressed with our recycling program especially the green waste portion Check on the Safety channel on myCuesta and our website To Do's *Still need to produce the Policies and procedures for "Caught in the Act" and "Online Training Program", deadline of submission per month, drawing per month, how to submit, creation of forms, creation of email campaign to advertise, etc

**Need to prepare information for monthly newsletter sign off by departments

***Department based safety trainings - How to research, organize, advertise Updates: *Check and see how the College is advertising the AlertU program - where have the instructions cards been distributed, do we have posters in classrooms, that it is suggested faculty and staff sign up, is system being tested, etc. AlertU program is advertised on main Cuesta College page with link to an information page on the program (it’s a copy of the handout card) - press release was sent August 08 - have asked that a new press release to be sent for Spring 09 semester - AlertU program is also on the Public Safety/Campus Police website - should it copy the "look" of what is on the Cuesta main page? - there is a channel on myCuesta for AlertU but no information is currently listed there - *please see attached **4405 amount of desks, cords, maximum capacity Hank to report through round table

The date for the Countywide Workshop is set for Friday, March 20, 2009, at the Madonna Inn, San Luis Obispo, 8am-1pm. Please mark your calendars.
