Dr. Randy Keasler; and 23 24 Whereas, by 1820 a small congregation was meeting for worship 25 and taking its name from Westminster Abbey in England, the 26 Westminster Baptist Church was founded. Services were held in a 27 log structure; and 28 29 Whereas, the church grew and prospered while doing the Lord’s 30 work in its community and in 1886, 1915, and 1977 new 31 sanctuaries were dedicated to the glory of God; and 32 33 Whereas, a school annex was erected in 1952 and an educational 34 building in 1962; and 35 36 Whereas, Westminster Baptist Church has served as a vital part of 37 its community in numerous ways, including embracing and 38 ministering to all of God’s children, providing wholesome 39 activities and services to community members, and spreading the 40 gospel and teaching the Word of God; and 41

[764] 2 1 Whereas, Westminster Baptist Church’s rich history precedes a 2 richer future as the church continues to do God’s will as it serves 3 its community and enhances the quality of life in Oconee County. 4 As it looks to the future, Westminster Baptist Church will pause to 5 reflect on its first one hundred twentyfive years during joyous 6 festivities. Now, therefore, 7 8 Be it resolved by the Senate: 9 10 That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, 11 recognize and honor Westminster Baptist Church in Westminster, 12 South Carolina, on the occasion of its one hundred twentyfifth 13 anniversary, and wish its faithful congregation and pastor many 14 more years of service to God and their church. 15 16 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 17 Westminster Baptist Church. 18 XX 19
