Mr. Guy Michel Corriveau is the Director of Disaster Management for the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, a position he has held for the past 6 years. He has more than 25 years of experience at various capacities, at all levels of government and with various non-government agencies in mitigating against, preparing for, responding to, and recovering from many all- hazard situations. He also has experience with general consulting and contracting services as a policy analyst.

Mr. Corriveau’s career has included military service as an officer in the Canadian Army. He has been a speaker/panelist on the topic of disaster management to the College of Family Physicians of Manitoba; the Manitoba Bar Association–Corporate Counsel; the Canadian Risk and Insurance Management Society’s National Conference; the Annual Manitoba Disaster Management Conference; the Canadian Institute’s Healthcare Emergency Preparedness Summit; the Manitoba chapters of the Disaster Recovery Information Exchange; the Community and Hospital Infection Control Association; the Manitoba Radiation Protection Association; and the Amateur Radio Emergency Service.

Mr. Corriveau has been a guest lecturer to the Applied Disaster and Emergency Studies degree program at Brandon University, and he has been a participant/presenter on the National Emergency Preparedness Working Group on Pandemic Influenza Planning; on the National Consultation Workshop on the development of a National Health Incident Management System; on the Canadian Standards Association Technical Committee on the Development of a Canadian Standard on Emergency/Disaster and Business Continuity Program; and on the Council of Health Emergency Management Directors on National Surge Capacity Planning.

Mr. Corriveau is a member of the International Association of Emergency Managers; the National Fire Protection Association; the Disaster Recovery Information Exchange; the Disaster Recovery Institute International; and a life member of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association International. He is currently serving his second 3-year term (to 2012) as a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) Commissioner for the International Association of Emergency Managers, serving the councils of Canada, America, Europa, Asia, and Oceana.

Mr. Corriveau has completed graduate studies in disaster management, culminating in a master’s degree of public administration. He holds certification through IAEM as a CEM.
