Student Guide to Remarks and Script Returns

Student guide to remarks and script returns Summer 2017 Exams

What to do if you have a query with your exam results………………

If you are a GCSE student who just missed a grade C in English or Maths, or just missed your college place:

 You may want to request a remark of your exam paper, and request your script back at the same time to use for revision purposes if you are going to re-sit the exam.

Please discuss your course of action with a teacher if they are available and contact the Data Office ASAP to ensure your request is processed before the deadline.

This guide, along with all the other post-results documents are available on the school website:

Filling in a Post-Results Services Form:

 For remarks and scripts you need to complete & return a Post Results Services form. Forms are available on the school website and from the Data Office.

Giving your Consent for Remarks.

 A candidate consent form must be completed before a remark is applied for. The enquiries about results consent form is available on the school website and from the Data Office.

Fees and Payment for Post-Results Services.

 Fees and payment information is on the Post Results Services Form. These forms are available on the school website and from the Data Office.

 Fees are refunded if the enquiry about results leads to a change in the overall subject or unit grade. However, a cost is incurred by a change in marks that does not lead to a grade change.

 Forms & payments should be given to Mrs Wakefield. Please pay using cheques not cash, cheques payable to ‘The Joseph Whitaker School’, please write your name in pencil on the reverse of your cheque. Please email [email protected] or ring direct 01623 792327 to speak to Mrs Wakefield.

Access to Exam Scripts (getting your exam paper returned).

 Original copies of exam scripts can be ordered (deadline 03/10/16) and these will arrive by 13 November. Remarks cannot be requested if the original script is requested.

Remarks (Service 2) – GCSE

 This is a post-results review of the original marking to ensure that the agreed mark scheme has been applied correctly.

 It’s usually only worth requesting a remark if you are near an upper grade boundary, because a few extra marks could give you a better grade. It’s usually unwise to request a remark if you are near a lower grade boundary, because losing a few marks could give you a lower grade.

 You can request a copy of your remarked exam paper.

REMEMBER MARKS CAN GO DOWN AS WELL AS UP!
