We Will Begin Play 5:30 Sharp

League Rules

PARK HILLS MENS GOLF LEAGUE

2017 Men’s League begins May 2RD for Tuesday nights, May 4th for Thursday night.

We currently have two 12 teams divisions for Tuesday and one 12 team division for Thursday. Tuesday’s divisions will be split by team handicaps. We will not play between divisions. We will have 16 weeks of league. We will begin May 2nd and May 4th. We end on and end on August 22th and the 24th, with the playoffs the next week. We will not play July 4 or 6 th . Rainout weeks will be skipped and regularly scheduled play will continue still ending on the original dates.

Cost: League is $25 per person (part is for covering the league software cost, balance for prize money)

Egg Game. The eggs will again be paid on net score, not gross within your division. This will help even out the playing field for everyone within their division. The eggs will be awarded the following week. This year your voluntary cost to participate in the Egg Game is $15.00. Subs will be allowed to participate in the egg game but they must also pay the entire $15 fee regardless of the number of weeks they substitute.

We will begin play 5:30 sharp

Tees played: Seniors age 70 and over can play the reds tees, but they must declare that intention prior to league beginning. (Must be 70 at the time league begins). All other members will play the white tees. We will not rotate tees during the season.

The ball will be played up everywhere within 1 card length. Do not change cuts of grass or remove an obstacle from your line.

Substitute and Forfeit Rule: We want to emphasize that we would like all matches played on Tuesday & Thursday evenings if possible. -We will have a list of subs available to fill in and we have handicaps established for them. Each team can have one player and a sub as often as needed. Both players may get substitutes twice during the season. If substitutes are not available, we have a ghost player “Casper” who can play with one regular member twice during the season. Casper plays at your handicap plus 5 strokes. - Make up games: The makeup match Mus t be played prior to your regular Tuesday or Thursday match. This will allow scores to be updated and eggs awarded in a timely manner. -If a makeup match cannot be completed or scheduled, the team that could not be there on Tuesday shall forfeit that match. They will not receive any points for that week. The team receiving the forfeit shall be awarded 14 points.

Handicaps: Your initial handicap is your handicap you ended league with in 2016. Those without 2016 handicaps will provide league officer with a minimum of two game scores and the league officers will assign the initial handicap. (Leave in box by the Ghin computer)

-The last 5 scores are used to figure your handicaps. (We will use the last two scores from last year to start the year for existing players or for new members scores turned in this year. If we have no scores, the committee will assign a handicap.) Leave your score cards by the Ghin computer.

- We will use a quadruple bogie as a maximum score on a hole. Once you are 4 over par pick up you ball and record score.

-The maximum handicap is 18.

Scoring: Scoring is as follows: Two points available for each hole, low net team score wins. Split if a tie. A total of 18 points for the 9 holes, then 4 points for low net team score. 22 points total.

This year playoffs will be within each division. The top 4 teams in each division will have a playoff. The final total scores will determine first through fourth in each division. Fourth could win the league in this matchup scenario.

Rule on lost ball or out of bounds: While not proper Golf etiquette, we strongly encourage playing “READY GOLF” due to the large number of teams on Tuesday. We need to keep things moving.

Lost Ball: After looking the allotted amount of time of 3 minutes, you should drop in the vicinity where the ball was lost, take a one stroke penalty. Drop on the line where the ball was lost. You MUST drop within 2 club lengths of the approximate area where it was lost. FOR EXAMPLE. ON #9, you lose a ball in the weeds on the right side of the fairway. You can drop in the grass 2 clubs lengths outside the tall grass.

Out of Bounds: You may take a drop where the ball last was in bounds, take a one stroke penalty and go on. Again, you must drop within 2 clubs length from where the ball went out of bounds. The player may elect to play per the normal rule though. Example: If you hit your drive out of bounds, you may hit your 3rd shot from the tee, but you must play this shot. If you again hit this shot out of bounds, you are not allowed to take the drop on the original drive. You must declare your intentions ON THE TEE prior to hitting the second shot to your competitors. You may play a provisional, but again declare. If you locate the original drive, you must play from that point out of bounds with a one penalty stroke.

For both the lost ball and out of bounds drop, you should ask the opposing team if they approve of your drop. You are not allowed to drop to an area to remove trees out of your line.

#3, the west side of the hole is marked as a hazard (red stakes). You may drop on the line your ball entered the hazard, assess a one stroke penalty. The area behind the hole is not a hazard.

#3. If your ball is in the bunker and the railroad ties behind interfere with your swing, you are allowed a free drop WITHIN the bunker to remove the interference. No more than one club length.
