ODESSA R-VII SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING SUMMARY

(July 14, 2009)

The Odessa R-VII Board of Education met on July 14, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. for a Regular Board of Education Meeting at the Odessa High School Media Center.

The following members were present: Aaron Dillon, President; Brian Young, Vice President; Mike Alumbaugh; Beth Fox; Tahnami Gittinger, Larry Jones and Ronnie Steelman.

FIRST ORDER OF BUSINESS:  Approval of Meeting Agenda (Vote 7-0)  Approval of Consent Agenda Items (Vote 7-0)

REPORTS :  2009 Summer School  2009 Summer Maintenance/Cleaning/Moving  2008-2009 Annual School Bus Inspection  Upper Elementary/Athletic Complex Construction Project Update

CURRENT BUSINESS:  The Board of Education approved the Puddle Jumper Days Committee request to utilize the Upper Elementary gymnasium and grounds, Odessa High School parking lot and Odessa Middle School parking lot for the festival (August 6-8, 2009). (Vote 7-0)  The Board of Education approved the 2009-2010 S.O.A.R./Child Care Staff Handbooks for the 2009- 2010 School Year. (Vote 7-0)  The Board of Education approved the At-Risk, Safety, Facility and Grounds and Food Service Program Evaluations. (Vote 7-0)  Superintendent Bollow reviewed correspondence with the Board of the Education from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education on the district’s Determination Category as “Meets Requirements in Implementing the Requirements and Purposes of the IDEA.” (No Action)  The Board of Education established the Tax Rate Hearing Date of August 10, 2009 beginning at 6:00 p.m. (Vote 7-0)  The Board of Education and administration discussed the attendance of the MSBA/MASA Fall Conference on October 22-25, 2009. (No Action)
