Lesson Title: Your Personal Legacy Objective: Students will explore life lessons by writing a list of their own “legacy” that they might impart to others in a “last lecture.” Students will make connections to Ch. 1 of OBOG book, The Last Lecture. Materials: Lecture worksheet (attached below) or lined paper Anticipatory Set: Ask “What wisdom would you choose to impart to the world if it was your last chance? What are the lessons of your own life so far?” Procedure: DAY 1 1. Students are to take a few minutes to imagine/reflect about being given the opportunity to share their wisdom with others. Discuss with students that the most important things that people leave behind are often not of monetary value. 2. Brainstorm some possible themes or lessons that students could discuss. 3. Ask students to also think about whom they are going to give this last lecture to… would it be other teenagers? Their family?
DAY 2 4. Distribute the worksheet or lined paper for students to write a part of what they would say in their last lecture. It can be the introduction, middle, or end of the lecture.
