VIKINGS VOLLEYBALL BOARD MEETING – August 9, 2017

Board Elections were held for the following positions:

Assistant Director Scott Hadrava was asked if he would continue as Assistant Director, he agreed to another term Motion to keep Scott as Assistant Director was passed

Treasurer Micki Husnik was asked if she would continue as Treasurer, she agreed to another term. Motion to keep Micki as Treasure was passed

Fundraising Mandi Bombard was asked if she would continue as Head of Fundraising, she agreed to another term Motion to keep Mandi as Head of Fundraising was passed

Merchandise Apparel – Shannon was not able to attend meeting so will hold election at the next meeting.

Motion to keep Lori Tieggen as a floating board member (non-voting) was passed. Golf Tournament

Jan and Scott are playing $100 donation – sponsoring two holes $50/each

Gustavus Flyer Michelle will email the JO Group Micki posted on Facebook and Instagram Gustavus will be practicing at NBHS following the camp

Joan is asking for gym space selection – week of August 28

Jan received an email stating that Kindra has offered to be on the board as a part of the scheduling team when/if Deb no longer wants to do this job.

The activities office sent an mail requesting that our club send out a message to our coaches to see if any of them would be able to help at the home volleyball matches:  Need help at HS for officials for 7th and 8th grade

 Line judges for all home games (JV, Varsity, 10, 8, and 7)

The AD office is offering:  Passes at Mississippi 8 Conference; or

 Payment is $15/match

Suggestion – reach out to the prior year coaches/parents

Community Ed

October 2 – November 20 – no Coaches/Mentors – Varsity Players Free Varsity Game – October 2

JO Night - incoming 6th graders and under Action Item: Mike will provide a date

JO Program Jan stated that we need a flyer this year to hand out at the Carnival and at the Community Ed program Micki – will create a flyer

Rick – now we are able to provide to schools for Friday folders Rick will talk with Deb Henton for confirmation Jan mentioned she had been contacted by a company which would provide collection of payments – cost would be $3,000 Motion to keep the collection within the Treasurer’s responsibility and not outsource was passed.

Discussion regarding increases: Due to increase in uniform cost, coaches salaries, etc., we may need to increase the tuition this year.

Discussion regarding conditioning and “boot camp”: Instead of using Xplode as we have in the past, consider offering a Boot Camp for the whole club and done all together. It was mentioned that the school is looking at hiring a trainer and that we may be able to utilize this resource in the future. Other options would be to use Wholesome Health or Xplode again (expectations would need to be part of agreement).

Coaches need to have a contract completed this coming year.

Treasurer – Micki Husnik 501c(3) Status – Micki will inquire about status of the application Balance information Keep the Clover-Go (electronic payment) for one more year - $4/month

Volunteer Coordinator – Mandi Bombard/Gina Dufeck Hay Days September 9 and 10 4 people shifts – one adult (ages 14 older) 6 am – 5 pm 6 am – 3 pm

Fundraising Coordinator – Gina Dufeck/Mandi Bombard No updates.

Assistant Director – Scott Hadrava Discussion of start date for this season.

Coaching Sports Director - vacant

Community Sports Director – Rick Weispfennig

Status of NBAAA Staying until up and running Dibs program $595 – for website and Dibs

Discount for Dibs Scoreboards moved from gymnastics gym to the Middle School Mike purchased three flipboards (backups) for use at the home tournament, given failure of 1 scoreboard this past tournament.

Scheduling- Deb Robinson No updates.

Secretary – Michelle Kent Michelle will resend the minutes for review – need to respond within 7 days

Uniform Coordinator – Shannon Schmeling Shannon and Karen are working on finding new uniforms

Proposal from local business for new uniforms – proposal at $126/uniform Hoodie – option to purchase (on Fan wear Sale) Uniform is still being discussed: Suggestion - stay with jackets, not hoodies Need to have a Net 30 on the payments for the uniforms. NOTE: New -- Uniforms – signup night

Merchandise Coordinator – Karen Johnson No updates.

Volleyball Advisor – Mike Selbitschka Mike purchased volleyballs (cost to be split between HS and JO 1/2 and ½) 18 volleylites 42 regular standard

JO needs: New ball bags – (6) Rick requested that they have our logo added Mike will inquire

Website Coordinator – Pam Gladitsch No news
