On December 18, 1990, The Board of Education for the Public Schools of Robeson County adopted a minimum education standard for all future employees.

Effective July 1, 1991, all newly employed classified personnel must have a high school diploma or a passing General Education Development (GED) test score.

Consequently we request that you attach a copy of the following to your application.

1. High School Diploma or GED.

2. College transcript of courses taken or a copy of your degree(s) from a community college or university.

3. Substitute 101 or Effective Teacher Training certificate.

4. Complete attached employment forms.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHER APPLICATION PROCESS

1. Complete an application.

2. Each applicant must obtain the signature of at least three principals who are employed by the school system and attach a copy of an appropriate diploma or teaching certificate.

3. Each non-certified applicant must complete the required Effective Teacher Training (ETT) course or Substitute 101 prior to employment. Web site for Substitute 101: http://www.wresa.org/

4. Applications will be reviewed by Human Resources. Effective February 1, 1992 all new applicants recommended for positions with the Public Schools of Robeson County must take and pass a Drug Abuse Screening Test. The screening will be at the expense of the Board of Education and must be performed by the Screening Agency selected by the Board.

5. The Superintendent will make the recommendation for employment as a substitute teacher to the Board of Education August through April.

6. After Board approval, each applicant’s name will be listed by geographical preference and distributed to all principals.

7. The salary for substitute teachers:

Licensed Teachers...... $ 103.00 per day (Must hold a current valid North Carolina license.)

Non-Certified Substitutes...... $ 80.00 per day
