ROOSEVELT WATER ASSOCIATION, INC. P.O. BOX 345 SNOHOMISH, WA 98291-0345 (360)568-3450 – FAX (360)563-5369 www.rooseveltwater.com 2nd Quarter 2014 Manager Report

The Trombley Road relocation of the water line went as planned. The County’s road repair took longer than any of us liked. The County will be finishing the paving of the road cuts the middle of September.

Flushing of the water lines took longer this year due to the road work. We have completed the flushing and have serviced hydrants as needed. We are working on raising some of the hydrants which have become too low due to ground and road conditions.

There were two fires this quarter in our area. Some reports stated the hydrant was not working. This was not true. The hydrant in question was used from approximately 2:15pm- 5:00pm. We did have a broken mainline on Highway 2 after the hydrant was closed, it apparently caused a water hammer and with the high pressure we have on Highway 2 and the pipe broke at the coupler. We were able to isolate and repair the broken pipe the following day. Thank you for your help in calling and reporting low pressure.

We had a broken main line on Butler Road this quarter also and again thanks to those who saw water coming out of the ground and reported it. We were able to isolate and fix it in a timely manner.

Each year we are required to report water usage and lost water, lost water due to mainline leaks or unaccountable water usage. 2013 we were under a 12% water loss. The State takes water conservation serious, in an effort to be in compliance, we have notified customers if we think they have a possible water leak, we also have a leak detection company check on our mainline in different locations each year.

Each April our Backflow Assembly Report is due, we are required to have the annual testing report on each double check valve in our System. If our customers have a sprinkler system, water boiler, swimming pools, hot tubs, automatic watering devices for animals, etc. there should be a double check valve to prevent backflow siphon age back into the drinking water. We have sent out notices to those we have identified that have systems which we do not have paperwork on. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. We have more information on our website, or call for information.

We have had some problem with individuals cutting the chain link fence which is around the Lupine water tank to enter this area. This quarter they cut the lock for the storage shed. If you see anyone inside or around the fenced tank area which do not appear to be a Roosevelt Water Employee please call 911, and our number 360-568-3450 to report. This is a Federal offense and will be taken very seriously.

We are getting more credit/debit card payments each billing cycle. The link for this secured payment option is on the website.

We are still gathering emergency contact information from each customer. Again, if you have not received a Member Certificate and Emergency Contact Form, please contact us.
