RATIONALE: The present quarter length is a modification of the FIBA rules. The ASAA follows the FIBA rule of 10 minute quarters. In the 4J division, the majority of schools play either 3A or 4A basketball at the ASAA level and the transition needs to begin at the SZJHAA Basketball Championship so that individual leagues can also begin the transition to the 10 minute quarters to better prepare players for the jump to 3A and 4A basketball.
