2016 Local Scholarship Application Scholarship Funds for Higher Education

Deadline: Submit application to the WHS Counseling Office Monday, March 10, 2016 No later than 3:30 p.m.

(The Foundation reviews applications as they are received and encourages applicants to submit applications as soon as possible. The Foundation looks favorably at applicants who submit applications well in advance of the deadline.) To be considered for WHS Local Scholarship, an applicant is required to:  Minimum weighted cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher

 Plan to attend a 2 or 4 year college, university, private school or trade program in the 2016-2017 academic school year

 Have 85 youth service learning hours completed and turned in prior to March 3, 2016, by 3:30 p.m.

 Attend a Scholarship Application Interview in March. (WHS Counseling will contact you with a date and time of your interview)

 Must include the following items with your application to be eligible or considered

 Resume to the application

 Activities and Award Sheet (Use the one from the WHS portfolio)

 1 to 2 page essay that includes educational and personal goals, and need for financial assistance for college. (When you write about a need for financial assistance please describe any special circumstance that may affect your family’s ability to pay for school medical costs, divorce, unemployment, child support)

 1 to 3 letter(s) of recommendation from teachers or community members

 By May 6th, Submit the following

 FAFSA Confirmation Page, form must show Expected Family Contribution (EFC)

 Student Aid report (SAR). You will receive your SAR via email or mail from Federal Student Aid once you submit your FAFSA and it is processed.

 Budget Analysis for the school you plan to attend. Budget Analysis is attached to this application. The WHS 2016 Local Scholarship Application Form
