In recent years, Hong Kong people have appeared to be less satisfied with their lives. To live in one of the busiest cities in the world, people have to face undue pressure and stresses from congested living conditions, competitive work settings, as well as conflicting social relationships. Therefore, the Hong Kong Psychological Society and the Department of Psychology of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) jointly stage this year’s conference by having the theme for this year as “Psychology for Healthy Society”, with the aim of reflecting on ourselves, sharing our thoughts and having more discussions together for building a sustainable society. It is open to professionals and practitioners in psychology. The conference will be conducted in English. Interested parties may visit the website at http://www.hkps.org.hk/index.php?fi=event for further details.

The conference will be divided into two parts. In the morning session, two distinguished local psychologists: Professor Winnie Mak from the Department of Psychology at CUHK and the Professor Richard Fielding from the School of Public Health at the University of Hong Kong will give the keynote speeches. Prof. Mak will talk about how psychologists can integrate academic research, urban planning and mobile technology to promote well-being in the community. Prof. Fielding will share recent psychological findings to discuss what and how psychology helps us face rapid changes in the modern society. Also, we will invite our representatives in psychology to stage a Leader’s Forum and share their view on promotion of healthy society. In the afternoon session, concurrent symposia and workshops will be held with topics including: - Community-clinical psychology in the 21st Century - Stress and mental health in the workplace - A public health approach to parent training programs in Hong Kong - Happiness map of 6230 university students in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan
