September Council Notes- Complete Minutes are available on our website for review once approved at the next month’s council meeting.
Fall Clean-Up- Residents can pick up their FREE Sunnybrook Transfer Station card the week of October 2-6 at the Village Office. This card has replaced the large bins brought into the Village in previous years. Residents are also reminded that the Village burn pile is available for leaves, grass and tree clippings etc. The burn pile is currently being left unlocked as long as it is not being abused. Please remember to take your plastic garbage bags with you when you are done dumping and that items are being left in the correct piles.
Voting Station for School Board Trustee- As there is no Municipal election for the Village, residents are encouraged to vote for the School Board Trustee October 16/17 at the Community Hall. Leduc County West candidates are Sam Kobeluck and Shawna Ofstie.
Village of Warburg Incoming Council Congratulations, the following candidates have been acclaimed as Councilors for the Village of Warburg: Ivan Laing; Kevin Maine; Dwayne Mayr; Tina Smith and Steven Swartz. The organizational meeting for council will take place on Monday October 23/17, at which time council will be sworn in and a new Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be appointed.
Comfort Station: Council has approved the bid from Mer-Con Construction Ltd. for the construction of the Comfort Station. (Bathrooms, showers etc… at the RV Park)
ATCO Gas Franchise Agreement: Council reviewed and agreed that the ATCO Gas and Pipeline Ltd. Franchise Agreement Fee remain at the current 10% for 2018.
2017 AUMA Convention : Council and Administration will be attending the 2017 AUMA Convention being held in Calgary in November. There will be great sessions for the new and incumbent Councillors as well as networking opportunities and opportunities to meet with Provincial government officials.
FORTIS Alberta Franchise Agreements: Council reviewed and agreed that the FORTIS Alberta Franchise Agreement Fee remain at the current 10% for 2018.
Warburg & District Fire Services Personnel Policies: Council reviewed these policies and following some amendments it will be forwarded to the Warburg & District Fire Department Volunteer Fire Fighters.
Street Light Assessment and Approval: Council has approved the installation of an additional street light along 45 Street. They have also asked FORTIS to assess the Village as to the need for other additional street lights.
Arena: The ice is in!!!! The arena is up and running for the 2017-2018 season.
CONGRATULATIONS: The Village of Warburg sends its Congratulations to Mr. Rob Wenzel on his being selected as one of the four 2017 Recreation Volunteer Recognition Award recipients. His dedication to the Arena Board and Minor Sports is greatly appreciated by Village Council and Administration. Rob will receive his provincial award at the Chateau Lake Louise on October 28, 2017 at the Parks & Recreation Conference.
Project Updates: Roads/Paving – Paving has been completed, and the boulevards and general tidying is continuing. RV Park- Construction is still ongoing. Gazebo- Construction is complete except for landscaping. Spray Park- Equipment has arrived and will be set up in September/ October if weather permits. The commissioning is being planned for June 1/18.
Council Meetings- Public is welcome and encouraged to attend! The next Regular meeting of Council is October 10 beginning at 7:00 p.m. Please note: All documents and notice of delegation intended to be submitted to the Council must be received by the CAO not later than 4:30 p.m. on the Monday of the week prior to the meeting.
