Dear Parents,

Our 9thth Annual Spring Recital for Spotlight Dance Academy is fast approaching! All of the dancers have been working hard for our recital entitled “Make Your Hands Clap!” I wanted to make sure all of the parents have all of the information needed to have a successful recital! Listed below are the dates and times for the upcoming events:

Wednesday, June 7 th : Mandatory Dress rehearsal for dancers listed below -at Littleton High School (directions listed below) Arrival Times: **PLEASE ARRIVE 15 MIN BEFORE YOUR SCHEDULED TIME READY TO DANCE! ** We will be starting on time and if you miss your class’ time on stage, your child will not be able to rehearse with their class!!! Please make sure the costume is on and your dancer is stretched. (For example: if your dancer is scheduled at 5pm, please come at 4:45 so they are ready to dance at 5!) We have had problems in the past with dancers showing up at their scheduled time and then we need to wait for them to get dressed before we begin. Please have your dancer come with hair and stage makeup on so they only need to change into their costume. Make sure hair pieces are pinned in so we can see if anything needs to be adjusted. Each dance will be blocked and then run, every class gets 15 min on stage and then will move on to pictures (More info listed below)! 4:15-4:45pm- “Empowering Women”- Teeny, Mini, Junior, and Elite Diamond Dancers 4:45-5:00pm- “Salute”- Tap 3 5:00-5:15pm- “Love Cats”- Teeny Diamond Dancers 5:15-5:45pm- “Life of A Ballerina” – Ballet 2, Ballet 3, and Advanced Ballet 5:45-6:00pm- “The Beautiful” –Junior DD 6:00-6:15pm- “Maybe They’re Onto Us” –Elite Diamond Dancers 6:15-6:30pm- “On The Radio” –Mini Diamond Dancers 6:30-6:45pm- “She’s In Love” –Intermediate Jazz 6:45-7:00pm- “Asystole” –Advanced Lyrical 7:00-7:15pm- Hip Hop 3 7:15-7:30pm- “Black Swan” –Pointe 7:30-7:45pm- “Freak Show” –Intermediate Modern 7:45-8:00pm- “Hurt So Bad” –Advanced Jazz 8:00-8:15pm- “End Of Time” –Advanced Hip Hop 8:15-8:30pm- “Chain of Missing Links” –Advanced Modern 8:30-8:45pm- “Spice Up Your Life” –Advanced Tap *Only 1 parent is allowed to attend the dress rehearsal for students under 12. This is a closed rehearsal for anyone who is not a student, teacher, chaperone, or the one parent for younger dancers, so please plan accordingly! If you miss the scheduled time for your class, you have missed the opportunity for your child to practice. We have to keep to the schedule to make sure we are out on time! *Please note that rehearsals do not run as quickly as the recitals and we are trying to give everyone equal opportunity on the stage. Please be patient with the staff, teachers, and dancers so we can have a successful rehearsal!*

Class Pictures: This year, we will not be having a separate picture day to take class pictures. Pictures of each class will be taken AT DRESS REHEARSAL! Each class will have their 15 min of rehearsal time with their teacher on stage, then the teacher will bring them down to a different area in the school to have their class pictures taken. We will be taking a few shots of each class in a couple of different poses. After that, there will an additional backdrop set up for parents to take their own individual shots. We have found that most do not purchase the individuals anyways and parents like to take their own. This process should make it easier for everyone to not have to come on another weekend. We are hoping that this is more efficient and we are able to get full class pictures. The pictures we take will be posted on a secure, password-protected website for families to download as they please. In order to make this process work, we will be charging a $10 fee to all families for 5 or less classes, and $15 for 6 or more classes. *This fee will be added on to your June tuition*. For example: if your child is in 2 dances, you will pay $10 for all shots taken. If you have one child who is in two dances and another child who is in 5 dances, you will pay $15 for all shots taken. We will include any action shots taken during rehearsals on this website as well. We structured our pictures this way for the first time last year and it seems that this might be what benefits each family the most! Please be patient with our process and any feedback afterward is appreciated!

Sunday Morning, June 11 th : “Make Your Hands Clap!” Recital: Sunday at 11am at Littleton High School. Classes participating in 11am show: All Tots in Tutus (Mon PM, Sat AM, NGCC, WCLC), All Preschool (Mon PM, Tues AM, WCLC, NGCC, Thurs PM, Sat AM), All Combo 5+6 (Mon PM and Sat AM), All Kinder classes (Ballet/Jazz, Fri and Sat Hip Hop, Acro), Lil Dudes, Adult Tap, Adult Combo, Daddy Daughter Group A. “Color My World”, “To Build A Home”, “Goin Rogue”, “The Voice Within”, “Shake The Room”, “Superstar”, “Hero”, “Lifeline”, “Love Must Prevail” and “Planet Earth” will also be performing in this recital! Students need to arrive at 10:30am ready to dance, the show will start promptly at 11:00am, so please be on time. You may pick your child up after their dance is over. Please meet them in the cafeteria and be sure to sign out your child so the chaperone knows they are leaving. *If your dancer is in both halves of the show, they will need to stay backstage until the end of the show! There will be plenty of chaperones to accommodate the young ones. One parent must sign their child in when you arrive at the show. That same parent will need to sign their child out after their dance or at the end of the show. Also, for the courtesy of the rest of the dancers, please wait until a dance is over before getting up in the auditorium. It is distracting to the dancers and their families to see people getting up while they are dancing! I AM LOOKING FOR PARENT CHAPERONES FOR THIS SHOW! I will have other chaperones to help entertain the dancers and sign them in and out, but I will need more to be at each table and escort each class backstage with the stage manager/runner and help with bathroom trips! Sunday Afternoon, June 11 th : “Make Your Hands Clap!” Recital: Sunday at 4pm at Littleton High School. Classes participating in the 4pm show : Acro 1, 2, and 3, Jazz 1 and 2, Hip Hop 1, 2, and 3, Ballet 1, 2, and 3, Tap 1, 2, and 3, Intro to Lyrical/Improv, Broadway Pop, Intermediate Jazz/Lyrical and Modern, Teen Broadway Pop, Lyrical/Contemporary, Ballet, Tap, and Hip Hop, Advanced Jazz/Lyrical, Modern, Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, and Pointe, Teeny Diamond Dancers, Mini Diamond Dancers, Junior Diamond Dancers, Teen Diamond Dancers, and Elite Diamond Dancers, Adult Combo, and Daddy Daughter Group B. Dancers need to arrive by 3:00pm ready to dance. Please follow the signs to the backstage area that parents can bring their child to. Parents are not allowed to stay back stage unless there is a medical reason discussed with the Director prior. There will be assigned chaperones and supervision to help the kids get ready for the show. After they are finished with their dance, they will be backstage until the end of the show because there will be a curtain call/finale dance and awards at the end. After the finale, students should gather all of their belongings from backstage then meet their parents right outside the backstage/dressing rooms.

What does “ready to dance” mean? Ready to dance means that students must arrive in their first costume with hair and makeup done. *Specific hair and makeup instructions will be given out on the costume requirements sheet towards the end of May.

Directions to Littleton High School: 56 King Street Littleton, MA 01460 From SDA: Take 495 South to exit 30. Turn Left onto 110/King Street. Littleton High School entrance will be on your Right in less than a mile. Follow the road all the way around the school the auditorium is in the back. Follow signs once in the school to where to drop your children off. During dress rehearsal, dancers and one parent each may just sit in the auditorium and wait for their dance to be called up.
