The Trail of Tears: How did we get here? Research Project

You and a partner are going to create a poster display to teach people about the removal of the Cherokee and Creek Indians from Georgia. There are two parts to the project.

1. Create an accurate timeline of events leading 2. Describe the people of the Trail of Tears: up to the removal of the Cherokee and Creek include the roles of Indians from Georgia and the southeast include □ Alexander McGillivray (timeline should start in 1790 and end in □ William McIntosh 1840) □ Sequoyah □ the Dahlonega Gold Rush □ John Ross □ Worcester v. Georgia □ Andrew Jackson □ John Marshall

You will have two days to research and two days to create the poster. The display must be finished completely by the end of class on Friday (11/20).

Poster deadlines: Tuesday-research in class with textbooks (pgs. 192-202) and Coach (79-84) Wednesday-research in project room with computers Thursday & Friday -Put display poster together (you will have access to the computers for publishing software ex: Word or Publisher or Power Point for pictures). You need to put as much text/pictures on one sheet as you can---Please don’t waste paper!!!
