DIRECTOR’S REPORT:

Margaret

We are in the process of renewing our charter. Every 5 years we have to go before an LEA for review. Currently we are included in the Gateway District, but we are actually in the Columbia District. They are very excited to be working with us. They think we have a great reputation! We will go back to being RSA and not RSA 2.

Car show is this Sat.

MicroFilm Festival.

We just finished the 3rd installment with Artisan Dance Co and it was wonderful.

Every year we have a parent survey online and last year we included students as well. Our primary focus is getting them ready for high school academically and emotionally. Students have come back and said that things they learned at RSA they are using in college, which means we are meeting our mission.

The result :

-About 1/4 our families took the survey. 167 of our 4th -8th graders responded.

-There is good representation across grade levels.

-We gather this info for LCAP to find out if we are meeting our goals and gives feedback on character develop and educational goals.

-90% like the Communication between emails and phone calls

-95% like the teacher websites and communicating through the websites -They liked the TBC and 60% like the emails from TBC (THIS was 2 years ago)

-Some of the comments were

-Not all teachers update their website daily

-Liked class emails from teachers

-They would like the website to be accessed easier

-It was surprising how many parents do not use the internet to check their child’s progress between Aries or the websites. We will be addressing how to communicate this option with our parents.

-Parents participated for TBC in talent show and the parade.

-75% of our kids feel encouraged by an adult at the school to attend college.

How were you satisfied with the instructional program overall

Reading 90% are satisfied across the board

Math 50% Middle School Response -Common Core was implemented

History 65%

Science 60% (we scored higher than the county and the state)

-Where can we improve? Science, (but we feel this is a communication piece that maybe the parents do not know what we actually do since our Science score was so great last year)

Parents would like a band incorporated and the school did apply an orchestra.

They love the chromebooks

Disappointed there are not required outside reading for the 6-8th grade.

Mrs. Allexy stepped up the science program last year and it showed.

a. -There is still rehearsal Saturday from 9-4 even though the car show is going on.

b. -Make sure they have their water bottles, food, and comfortable clothes as well as their script. c. -Please make sure they shower and wear deodorant.

-The 26th-30th 1-3 there will be rehearsal during parent conference. If your child does not have rehearsal but are at the school they need to stay in the room until they get picked up. No walking around the school by themselves.

-Please do not bring food to them during the rehearsals, but wait until before, after, or break.

-All lines need to be memorized by Nov 1st and we will have everyone blocked by then (hopefully)

-T-Shirts are all ordered

-Ads are due in Dec for the discounted price.

-We traded Ads with Cascade ½ page at Cascade Christmas for a full page in our Lion King for Mary Poppins.

We want to do a push with our ads. They should be easy sells. It’s good revenue.

Hillary will sell a remind out about pushing the ads for Lion King program.

Open Chairs:

Co-Security, Float, Ticket sales, Set Design, Props, (Christa Blackmore)

Lisa is going to send out an email TBC parents then to the whole school for Christa Blackmore to ask for volunteer help with the props.

OLD BUSINESS:

TBC sponsorship fund (packet was handed out) which was adopted last May. 19th 2015

The educator application is 3 pages and the Individual is just front and back.

The only change that needs to be made in the Educators Application is the maximum amount of $100 on the form to $100.

Jen will compile the digital copies and send them to Margaret who will then send them out to the teachers.

Show Tickets: Hillary

We are looking at using Brown Paper Bag ticket site instead of the Cascade Instead of $3.00 per ticket cascade fee it will be a $1.30

We will get our funds immediately

It still has a map with reserved seating

The downfall is it will not be promoted through the Cascade.
